That's weird. I don't mean to be condescending, but is it a PS3 disc you've got there?

I'd return it and get a replacement.

I suggest you contact the publisher of the software in question for a quick and efficient answer. Either that or return it because it's probably defective.

I only had that happen when I had my old xbox. Once I bought the new one, it hasn't happened yet (not with RE5 specifically, but a few other games I own)

Your 360 might be dying. I got tons of new games for Christmas, and all of them didnt work. My old games worked fine, but new ones wouldnt play.

Then I would contact the support for Resident Evil and Microsoft, maybe check out their forums, and see if anyone is having this problem, to be perfectly honest.

Same here. Happened on the old Xbox, but not the 360.

I had it happen on my old 360. Started about 6 weeks before it red-ringed. I bought one of the Arcades, because I had a 120gb hd, and made sure it was one of the new ones w/ the new chip/board/psu and thus far haven't run into a single problem.

Then you have a faulty disc. Since the game is new, you should have no issues exchanging it at the store it was purchased at. When you get it working, let us know if they improved upon the horrid control scheme of the demo. I like the Resident Evil games and like the concept for this new release, but I could not tolerate the RE5 demo for more than 5 minutes.
