Indeed. Most of the songs on the pop list could be found on youtube as music videos if you don't mind a little searching. For those unknown to you, anyway.

i started to do a "list your favorite songs/albums" by genre thread but not only figured it'd just turn into an argument about genres, but also realized how bloated my list was becoming.

i did keep my progress saved in notepad, so maybe i'll get really bored some day and finish it up.

on-topic: though i don't seem to share much in common with gowie's pop list i agree with quite a few of his post-hardcore picks.

I'm sad that Majority Rule only made two actual records.

I agree completely. I was nearly turned off by the gimmicky thing with the tap dancer, but it's too good.

Sometimes gimmicks and a novelty or two can be good for a band (artistically, musicially, whatever).

Nice list, but no Mudhoney or Green River under grunge?

Gowienczyk

Not huge on Mudhoney and consider Green River in the punk category more than what grunge became.

I think now I like other twee bands like The Boy Least Likely To better, anyway. Also, I think I like that 'Were From Barcelona' single more than the band's complete output anyway.

i love twee, but a lot of these more recent bands don't do it for me...

a few more recent bands who inject varying amounts of twee into their music that i do dig include liechtenstein, the pains of being pure at heart, and jeremy jay.

Why Aenima over Lateralus? Just wondering.

Probably because it's not as long and boring. I like the darker atmosphere. I don't think Gow likes any other Tool anyway.

How? I never really mention much about Funeral Diner outside of the fact I think they are one of the best post-hardcore/emo/etc bands out there (or were, anyway).
