The only possible answer is the big four of Tween.
Naked Brothers Band, Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and Miranda Cosgrove.

I honestly have no clue what Tweens like these days but I think I'd put Taylor Swift in that particular group over Miranda.

The others were between Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. This is between The above grouping and 3 others.

I voted Grunge.
As much as I hate Slayer, I don't know anybody who considers Testament part of the big 4.

British Invasion was dead by the time Zeppelin were around.

no cream?Hmmm... well they would defintly be in if it was top 5 but I just think that the albums released by the bands stated between 69-70 (Live at Leeds, In Rock, Black Sabbath, LZ II) were so influential in bringing hard rock to the mainstream in a time when mainstream music was mainly 'hippie' love and peace music that it had to be LZ, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and The Who get mentioned.

Agreed although I think runner ups would include Jethro Tull and Kansas

i couldnt throw Tull in the big grouping due to most people only knowing two albums
though, we could do this:
Big 4 of the Canterbury Scene: Egg, Soft Machine, Caravan, Gong

Consider that early prog (or proto prog) had several big bands; Procul Harum, The Nice, Moody Blues, etc.

What about the big 3 of shoegazer?
My Bloody Valentine
Ride
Slowdive
It's not a big 4 but the combined awesomeness of the 3 together makes the equivalent of a fourth band.

Grunge wins. The other "Big Fours" have at least one mediocre-to-crappy band that brings it down below the awesomness that is Grunge. Nu-Metal has three, which is probably why it doesn't have any votes.

British Invasion is first because all the bands are great.
Grunge is second because I love Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden, but I'm kinda indifferent to most Alice in Chains.
Thrash is third because Megadeth and Testament are great, but I think Metallica's merely decent and the other two aren't my bag at all.
Nu-Metal is a distant fourth. System of a Down is OK and I can tolerate Disturbed, but I despise the other two.

The only one in the 'Grunge Big Four' I can stand are Nirvana, and I only really like their first album. This said, I like 'grunge', and am miffed that the lame bands beat the good ones out to fame.
