View Full Version : Reccomend some ____ for a fan of ____

I figure this would be a good way to help people (including myself) find new music to listen to. Basically, it goes like this:

Poster 1 will ask to Reccomend some *insert genre here* for a fan of *insert band here*. Then Poster 2 will answer with a band suggestion, coupled with a song by that band. Then they ask the question, and the cycle continues. So...

Reccomend some modern metal for a fan of The Sword.

Acid Bath, Candlemass, Pagan Altar, Solitude Aeturnus.

I'll pass on asking for recc's, I'm fine, haha.

Anyway.

Give some alternative/indie/post-hardcore for a fan of The Jesus Lizard, Dinosaur Jr, Pere Ubu and Built to Spill.

T. Rex, of course, and Eno's early solo work. For post 70's, I'd recommend the Chainsaw Kittens' first and third records, maybe Suede, and absolutely Placebo. Roxy was a strange beast, they were a bit more, for lack of a better word, progressive than their contemporaries, and as such Marc Bolan gets most of the hip cred rather than Bryan Ferry. Most Roxy Music influenced bands aren't very glam at all, i.e. The Smiths.
