i was playing one of the songs and right at the end the stars turned gold. wut do they mean?

Perfect - At least, I think, I'm not absolutely certain. Just that you didn't miss any notes. It seems the most likely.

They mean the same as they did in Kindergarten. You did a good job.

You can 100 percent a song and still not get 5 gold stars. The gold-ness is completely score based and not percentage based anymore.

How do gold stars work?

Gold stars are no longer based on 100% notes hit. They are based on exceptional score. So it is possible to get 100% with bad overdrive usage and not get a gold star. Conversely, with good overdrive usage you can make a mistake or two and still get a gold star. Gold stars are only attainable in expert difficulty. For multiplayer, all band members must be on expert.
