Guitarist is missing

I have RB2 on PS3. I have made 4 members for my band. When i only play one of the instruments other than the guitar, i never see the guitarist i made on stage with the other members I made. He has definately been promoted as a permanent member of the band as all the others. But that character is the only one that the AI does not put on stage with me when i am the only one playing. Why is this and how do i correct it?

Also, I have made who i want as the bassist but when I select him to play he does not appear in the "line-up room" with the bass i bought him. He is holding a regular 6 string guitar. He does play the one i bought when i get him on stage but why does it not show him holding a bass in the line up?

Did you set the guitarist as the band stand in? I think the stand in is the actual thing, not permanent band member. Also, if you were playing as that character it doesn't work.

And you can't change that. By default all guitar controllers are recognized as guitars in the band screen until you start the song.

I do have him as a stand in when members are missing. I have all my members as stand ins if someone is missing. Should i not have it that way? I have him set up exactly the way i have the other members and they all appear on stage every time. If i am playing as the drummer...or anybody other than the guitarist..my guitarist will not be on stage. If i am playing as the guitarist...all the other members WILL be on stage. Why would this happen?

So every member of your regular band is also your stand-ins (in the same slots)? I know the game will sometimes move a bass stand-in to guitar and vice-versa on the Wii version...

I have done the same things as you and am having the exact same problem. I thought that it might be that is was assigning the guitar to slot one, so I hooked up both guitars and then selected the slot 4 guitar to play bass with and still no guitarist. Very frustrating.

I am having this exact same issue.

My band has four established members, and each one is set on their respective instruments under the "stand-in" option, but my guitarist also enjoys the disappearing act (on a more limited scale, but same problem)

I can play drums and vocals (and guitar, obviously), but when I use my bassist (whom shows as the stand-in for bass when I'm not playing), the guitarist becomes a random session member.

I know it's argued that the characters in the background don't add much to the game, but I'm quite attached to my band, and would really like to know what I need to do to solve this.
