Pick and explain your reasoning.
And I just had to take off Travis Barker because he's terrible compared to others.
I like Brann Dailor of Mastodon right now.
"Who is your favorite drummer listed here?" isn't "Favorite Modern Day Drummer"
forgot to include that haha my bad.

My pick is Terry Bozzio, but as he's not listed, I'll go with Bonzo.

how are Peart and Bonham "modern"?

Yeah, Bonham has been dead for quite some time.

Well Bonham only died 30 years ago. Still very modern if you consider Ancient ****ing Greece.

He's a better drummer than Lars Ulrich.

Niel Peart is the greatest drummer ever to be around in my opinion. I have seen him live and wow, even at his old age, he can drum just as good as he could in the 80's.

I think this is the kind of rush fan that Ultimatum was talking about.

A modern day drummer-er*, mean, mean stride/
Today's John Bonham, mean, mean pride/
DUH DUH, DUH DAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
DUH DUH, DUH DAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
DUH DUH, DUH DAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
DUH DUH, DUH DAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Since Peart isn't really all that modern, I'm gonna go with Mike Portnoy, (who still really isn't all that modern, but eh.)

I like this guy a lot. Just the latin jazz grooves and rhythms he brought to the table are some of the ones Ive enjoyed the most. Just proves you dont have to play fast to make insane music.

Neil Peart is modern now?

Neil has a pretty different style than most of the ones you listed, honestly.
QUOTE=WingsOfSteel;2177730]He's a better drummer than Lars Ulrich.[/QUOTE]
Travis is even more generic than Lars. And Lars may be pretty meh now, though he wasn't bad when they began.

He really is. Hes more of a percussionist than a pure rock drummer. Also, his ability to levitate and bend matter at will would put him in the realm of a wizard as well.

My favorite drummer on your list is Peart. As far as "modern" drummer on the list i'd go with Larkin.

Bonham, Peart and Ulrich are about as non-modern as you can get. I know everyone else said that. But wtf were you thinking?
My favorite drummer on the list that's actually modern is Dailor.

Chris Pennie from Dillinger Escape Plan and Coheed and Cambria.

You have Bonham and Peart, but not Copeland or Palmer?
Also, no Portney
Anyway I go with Palmer after all he is still making music (released an album with Asia last year) so he is still technically modern :D
how are Peart and Bonham "modern"?
You beat me to it.

Yes, modern is anything that is included in written history, of course this topic of discussion is totally irrelevant, the best drummers were all cavemen.

Well, the results prove it
Brann Dailor > Neil Peart
Even his name is better.

I voted for Lars Ulrich, cuz he's just so adorable. I'd keep him in my pocket and pat him on the head whenever I felt sad.

Considering half of them aren't modern drummers I'll say Nathan Followill of Kings Of Leon.
