For those that don't know, The Divine Comedy is one of the best pieces of literature of all time. It was written in the 14th century by the Italian poet Dante, It is about a fictional journey through hell, purgatory, and heaven. The first part, simply called Inferno, is the most famous because, well, hell is the most interesting.

Electronic Arts is making it, so it should be well done. They're also making a movie to go along with it, kind of like what they did with Dead Space. From what little I've seen, this game is going to be EPIC!

Cool. Donte is one of my favorite authors, so this should be pretty interesting for me.

Sweet. They better have Dante's Inferno by Iced Earth on the soundtrack.

Oh wow, lots of possibilities for the soundtrack. As long as its heavy or spooky sounding, it'll work.

This is quite possibly the most idiotic thing that has ever been thought. I pray that international thermonuclear war erupts before this is released, so that - as an eternal punishment - we might disappear as a species.

I'm all for great literary works being made into video games. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

Same here. I don't expect it to follow the original too closely though. It is going to be about blood, gore, and violence. If it gets one person to read the poem, it'll be a success.

Besides, it would seem hypocritical to bash a video game based on a literary work by posting on a forum for a video game based on real music.

I watched the trailer a few weeks ago and was kind of bummed about all of the very obvious liberties they're taking with the original text.

I don't think it will be a bad game - I think you'll just have to separate the actual poem/text from the very loose interpretation in the game (if you've read it that is).

That's to be expected. If it were just like the poem you'd do a lot of following Virgil around, talking to npcs, and not much else :p

Yes, incredibly loose. Looser than a old [INSERT RACE HERE] hooker.

I know - I was kind of wishing they just took the setting and called it "inferno" or something instead of trying to use some of the same characters.

I'd actually like to see the animation for the 3-headed Lucifer.

If you press X, your character faints. ;)

It's definitely an interesting idea, but it looks really similar to Brutal Legend which I'm really looking forward to...

Unfortunately, some people won't be able to get past the fact that it's going to be different from the poem, but without whiners, what would we be discussing on forums?
