Ever since I pulled it out of the plastic wrapper, the black body on my Stratocaster has shown this unusual static electricity property. It clings to every loose piece of dust, dirt, hair, or particle.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, did you find a way to resolve it? I am getting tired of "de charging" the plastic shell and then wiping off all the dust it picks up.

You should see the casing of a PS3 after a while it attracts dust like a magnet,

Maybe spray endust on something at the opposite end of the room? I hear it attracts dust like a magnet!

Also, yeah, the PS3 just won't stop being dusty. For like a week I cleaned it every other day until I realized the effort was futile.

I suggest to swing the guitar around less (motion creates static) and stop wearing your polyester outfits while rocking ;)

I have the exact opposite. Nothing clings to mine. I thought it would be covered in dog hair (damn huskie), but it is spotless. Maybe if we touch the guitars together, It'll cancel it out. :p

Taken from source: "Shaving or clipping the hair on hairy legs will cause less static electricity to build up in the first place. While it may be unpleasant to your psyche, it works very well."

Do people really find this necessary?

Depends on if avoiding static cling is more important to you than your psyche ;)
