Piece of Mind and TNOTB were O.K. albums, but fans agree that, like a fine wine, Maiden has gotten better with age. Why can't we see some stuff from Dance Of Death, Brave New World, or A Matter Of Life And Death?

And what about some United Aboiminations? I'd like to try out my chords on Dave's vocals.

Their first 5 albums are by far their best, IMO.

Which fans are these? Is that why they're preparing another greatest hits tour from their 80s/90s work after doing one just a few years ago?

nothing touches Maiden '79-88 IMO.

last 3 Maiden albums were alright, but just doesnt hold ANYTHING on the "classic" middle albums. I mean cmon, Maiden were consistently releasing pure classics year after year with HUGE touring in between. Number Of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, and Seventh Son of a Seventh son all within a 6 year span!

Have you eve listened to the Post burn victim Maiden? Dude, with A Matter Of Life and Death vs TNOTB, Its no contest. For The Greater Good Of God pulls wa-aaa-aay out ahead of Hallowed Be Thy Name.

And please don't remind me that with the first Maiden concert actually worldwide in 15 years, they won't be playing anything from that 15 years.

like i said, i find the latter Maiden albums alright. I can't stand the production on them. Bruce's voice just keeps getting better and better, but i see Bruce being more up front than the rest of the music, less emphasis on solid music and more on catchy chorus/chants...I'm sure they still play "classic" Maiden stuff, but its usually the normal stuff like Run To The Hills, Number Of The Beast, The Trooper, etc. I've seen them at every show since the Bruce/Adrian re-uinon Brave New World Tour up until the Death on the road tour.

for their first re-union they were playing fan picked songs and opened up with ACES HIGH! unfortunately they had to cancel a local show because Bruce got sick :(

All Iron Maiden would be fun to play.

For individual songs my favorite is probably Paschendale or The Clansman

Obviously it's my opinion how could that not be clear?

If we are going by sales numbers then I guess Britney Spears is the best.

I have been a Maiden (Piece Of Mind, Number of the Beast, 7th Son Maiden I mean) fan for about a year (sue me, I'm 17, I just discovered them) but just tonight I check out some of their stuff from A Matter of Life or Death...it's nothing close to their classics but it's not bad, and I'd take it over 98% of the crappy metal that's being put out now.

i will venture to say that a matter of life and death is their best in a whilei have their first few from di'anno to dickinson, whoever was there for virtual IX sucked, and that guy should have been left off of the Edward the Great comp. Dickinson is the best, but that shouldnt take away from their pioneering efforts. Iron Maiden, Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Brave New World, 7th son of a 7th son, and dance of death all were great albums, but Matter of Life and death is also a good album.

If we are going by sales numbers then I guess Britney Spears is the best.Critical praise and higher sales with less publicity (which puts it outside the scope of Britney Spears) means that they are better. The lyrical content is smarter, the range, from borderline thrash speed to soothing orchestral rock, is greater than anything they've done before, what stops it from being better?

Iron Maiden and Killers have great songs that sound even better with Bruce signing them. They should redo them with him on vocals.

I like the new stuff but I'd say my favorite tracksf comes from Somewhere in Time and earlier. Of course I think part of my feelings come from growing up with them through high school and loosing touch with them a bit as I got older. Now I've found myself longing for their style of Heavy Metal so I've dived back into the old and new stuff.

I wish the new tour would come through Chicago.

Any added Maiden songs to Rock Band would kick butt, no matter which album they're from.

The new albums have outsold the old ones? Somehow I find that hard to believe but I could be wrong.

I personally don't like the 'smarter' lyrics, etc. It's the same thing that killed Metallica for me after the Black album's success. They got away from the simple metal goodness of tunes like Whiplash, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Seek and Destroy, etc. and started to 'grow' and 'explore their feelings'. Maiden hasn't gone that far as I still enjoy the new stuff but I guess it just boils down to your personal preference and what you've grown to like.

I agree that the older metal is much better then anything being put out now..

But to say that the new Iron Maiden stuff is better then the old? I dont agree...
I have been listening to them since they started. They are my favorite band, as well as my brothers. We cant get over how good their first set of albums are... From 7th Son and before... We both still listen to those albums all the time!!
They do have some good songs out here and there.. Dance of the Death comes to mind.

Just listened to "For The Greater Good Of God"... Its OK... It does not come close to Hallowed Be They Name... By a long shot.

I do agree that Iron Maiden would make for some great RB playing...!
One of the greatest bands ever...
