dilema- KEEP new guitar or Old one

ok...start off..im a neat freak.

had my new outta box strat (ps3) double strum...
opened it up...
had the ole...two metal plate technology...one of the plates was bending...i straightened it out (what crap/cheap setup)

also tightened two screws ....

worked GREAT...still ordered new strat b/c i felt matter of time before one of these cheap thin metals bent again. AND i heard new strats are magnet technology.


GOT new strat last night....

opened it up...CLEARLY a refurb (not new)...scratched and looked used...

I openened it up to see mechanism...and it is indeed new magnetic technology (the inside of strum triggers a note when magnets get NEAR each other....nothing ever touches...

seems they just opened up an old strat and put in this new mechanism.

I tried it out...and the frets ARE definatly louder.

although i like the way my old one plays better (feels new.....)..i know it will break.

thinking i should just keep the working fresh one with newer technology (cant see a reason why it would stop working if not abused

Once you reshape metal, it will never be as strong. Your old one is bound to die out eventually. I would just sand the refurb down after the warranty expires and paint it something else.

You could take off the neck of the old guitar (with the quiet frets) and swap it out with the noisier one. Really easy to do. I did it, now I have a great guitar.

It does but i would roll the dice cause I dont think they will be going over these with a fine tooth comb when they return.

I however have 2 bundles one i bought to use while my replacements where on their way and i swapped out the neck in that other bundle not the one I returned. But if i didnt have that option I would have swapped the replacement.
