Does that validate a replacement? I dont really want to get it replaced, just wondering.
Any fix for it ?

Quick trouble-shooting questions:
What system? PS3 or X360?
For X360:
Do you have a regular controller signed on when trying to use the mic? Can you use the mic in solo tour?
Are you using the USB hub for the drums and mic at the same time? Is the USB hub's power supply plugged in?

try this, it worked for me... at least I can record a message now while plugged into the drumset with my microsoft headset.
if you have a voice message to listen to great, if not record one with the headset plugged into the regular wireless controller (you know that works). you may have to have a buddy send you a voice message, now that i think about it. when you change controllers(going from wireless to the drum) it may not work correctly, you'll know soon enough.
Now plug the headset into the drumset using your adapter, make sure the adapter has a tight connection with the headset plug.
start playing that recorded message over and over, while you adjust the end of the adapter plug in the drumset port. I found mine to work best when it wasn't quite in all the way.
When I could hear it well, i tried recording a message and it worked.
good luck
