i thought about this too, but i think you would really need the master recording for vocals so you wouldnt have all the other noise that i might pick up. thats funny though, because i thought about it too.

HMX tried it in many different ways in QA and could never get decent results with it.

Yup, plenty of us played it before the dark times, before the Empire (err....SOE) completely botched the game. :(

I haven't tried it, but I noticed that if I have the volume loud enough and the mic sensitivity up, the arrow will follow the notes. Not for very long, though, since it picks up the other instruments too. So if you had a recording of just the vocals, then it would seem logical that it would work.

Playing back a recording doesn't work. This was tried by Harmonix QA for the technology that went into Karaoke Revolution.
