I've been looking all over for a bundle for RockBand to buy, and everywhere I ask they say they are not allowed to sell it. The only place I could even place an order for one was with gamestop, and the posted PRE-RELEASE is January 2nd. So that means I'm not going to get to play rockband until the 3rd or 4th of January. WTF is up with this?

They might have recalled all unsold models, but don't expect a recall of any of the ones now in the hands of customers. So many people have already swapped instruments that it would be pointless to recall the sold ones.

Any official response to this? Slightly pissed atm.

They are in very low supply, as they told as they would be.

Best way to get a timely response is to PM a mod.

Edit: a currently online mod.

There is no recall. And retailers are certainly allowed to sell it if they have it in stock.

Only problem there, is that gamestop says it is instock. But is not shipping until Jan. 2nd for some reason. I can't find anything on RB website or forums about this.

I'll try pm'ing a mod.

I'm not sure if that pisses me off more or less. I have sent an email to gamestop about this, maybe soon I will find out why they will not ship RB until Jan. 2nd.

No way a retailer ‘holds’ stock and not sells it after the release date...

If they are not shipping, it could only mean they really DON'T have it OR someone up their chain of command has placed a hold on it...in the latter case, it’s most likely so they can be diverted to stores the week before Christmas.

There's a third choice...but i ain't going there.

The places I found that had some but could not sell them is because some people still have not picked up their pre-orders. So those copies are reserved. It's not that they just don't want to sell them or are sending them back.

This isn't news. There were indications that supply would be short before they even released. The going opinions were that if you missed getting one at launch you would most likely be waiting till after the beginning of the new year. Sorry. I'm sure the defective guitar and drum issues didn't help that forecast any. I really wish HMX would have just upped the bundle price to $199 and used the extra $20 to up the quality of materials. Ugh.

You could go across the border and get one in Canada at the Canadian release! ;)

And I would probably be a sucker...

...if they released a "Double Platnum; Special Uber Edition" box set with amped up equipment for $249 I would prolly buy it.

Upgraded wireless Strat ($99 seperatly)
More durable drum set with heavy duty metal kicker ($149)
better mic ($59)
and SE version of the game with a 1000pt XBL card to help balance things out

Yeah, i'd be a sucker.

Yes...that would be worth it. I don't think this game is worth driving from Alabama to Canada for. :P It's not even worth driving an hour away to a gamestop to see if its instock in store. Which is why I'm ordering it online, but they don't ship until Jan. 2nd.

I'd be a sucker on the PS3 side if they'd simply create a rechargeable Bluetooth version of, well, pretty much everything. I'd pay pretty darned big for that.

i dont want to sound like a smart ass, but you realize youre basically placing an order for a bundle they dont actually have? they're selling you a spot to claim a unit fro their next available shipment. amazon did the same thing. you could place an order a couple days after launch, but they knew they wouldnt get their next batch until days later, so it said it that it would ship december _(i cant remember the exact date). there is no recall or holding of the game. it's just not in hand yet to send to you.

Bingo. Online stores do this all the time. I try not to shop at the ones that do.
