View Full Version : If You Could Plan A Metal Festival...

What would it be called, and what would the line up be? Here's mine. It has the songs that I think they should play (they should play more than what I have listed, but these are the ones that definitely need to be included). I know, the title sounds like it's limited to thrasher metal, but it's not; "thrash" is just a generic metal term I used for it. It's an epic 3-day long festival, 12 bands, each day with 4 nonstop performances of pure METUHLL! The first 11 performances just build up to the metal gods themselves: 'Tallica!

ThrashFest '09

-Day 1-

1. Slayer
Raining Blood
War Ensemble
Angel of Death

2. Iron Maiden
Run to the Hills
The Number of the Beast
Prowler
Flight of Icarus
Wrathchild

3. Drowning Pool
Bodies
37 Stitches
White Trash Circus (Motley Crue cover; Drowning Pool's singer has performed as a backup singer in a re-recording of it, but this live version would be without Motley Crue and preferably more metal)

4. Slipknot
Before I Forget

-Day 2-

5. Megadeth
Peace Sells
Hangar 18
Countdown to Extinction

6. Ozzy Osbourne
Crazy Train
Mr. Crowley
Bark at the Moon

7. Bullet for my Valentine
Scream Aim Fire
Tears Don't Fall

8. System of a Down
Sugar
Chop Suey
B.Y.O.B.
Forest
Chic 'N' Stu
Bounce
Vicinity of Obscenity
Toxicity

- Day 3 -

9. Disturbed
Down With the Sickness
Stricken
Inside the Fire
Land of Confusion

10. Black Sabbath (possibly with Ozzy)
War Pigs
Iron Man
Paranoid

11. Motorhead
Ace of Spades
Overkill
Eat the Rich

12. Metallica
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Creeping Death
Hit the Lights
Blackened
The Day That Never Comes
Cyanide
One
All Nightmare Long
Battery
Master of Puppets
I Disappear
The Unforgiven
Enter Sandman

I'm not an expert on metal, but I can safely say that Metallica would be the ones opening for Iron Maiden or Slayer. and since when does slayer and open for SOAD and disturbed? And BFMV being on there at all is a joke.

Ok... umm... You don't get it. First of all, Metallica is arguably the most famous Metal band ever (and in my opinion the best). Also, I didn't list them in any particular order... It's supposed to be a festival as in playing as equals, no "opening acts". Otherwise it would be a chain of band A opening for band B who opens for band C and... that would just mess everything up. And BMFV is a great band in my opinion and a lot of people like them.

Yeah, a lot of peple like Jona Brothers too, doesn't mean their good. And having Slayer and Iron Maiden play before Slipknot is just an insult. It's going to get wierd when Onslaught comes in here.

The difference is that the Jonas Sisters are a stupid pop band that everyone except 8-13 year old girls hates. BMFV is a legitimate metal band. And let me clarify it... the order isn't perfect because I listed them in the order that they came to my head, in the order that I thought of them in... except Metallica, which was the first one but in my opinion the best so I decided to save them for last.

And the only people that like BFMV are angsty teenagers...

No need for a big festival. Just this (in order of appearance):

Om
High On Fire
Sleep (bands join to form them)

They can choose their own sets.

It's missing one thing:

Electric Wizard.

Imagine Sleep and Electric Wizard playing a set together. That would be the sexiest thing the human race could do.

I'm not terribly familiar with most of those bands, but that's still a really interesting way to design the festival, back_blows.

That would definitely kick ass. Now, mix that in with some pot smoke in the ventilation systems...

Edit: Nice fest there, Back Blows, though shouldn't the metal masters be the last day?
