Well I didn't see this type of thread up already...so....yeah....it's....up now....
My number 1 fave is Live at Leeds by The Who. I think it's the best live album ever, but I guess I'm a little biased cos The Who is one of my favorite bands.
Another one I like a lot is Made in Japan by Deep Purple. It's a double album with only seven songs! Amazing performances by Purple's greatest line-up.

I'm gonna lose all cred and say it's Duran Duran's Arena. When I got that record in 84 or so, it made me want to be a musician. Now you know who to blame LOL.

At FIllmore East by The Allman Brothers Band.
Easily one of my favorite records of all time, let alone live albums.
Even better if you get the deluxe edition.

Yes, that is great too. Almost all the live albums by the Bros. and Grateful Dead are amazing

I may not have heard a lot of Duran Duran, but they're awesome anyway.
Live from the Middle East-Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Live at Wembley-Queen
Exit Stage...Left-Rush
I haven't heard a lot of live albums still, so my numbers of choices are limited.

Ohp, looks like I just got pwned...Oh well, I guess I didn't see it cos the last post was in mid March...Anyways, I agree with you on Wheels of Fire. Ummagumma by Pink Floyd is another that is similarly awesome, as in one disc being a live album

I listened to How The West Was Won and was thoroughly disapointed. Plus 15 minute rendition of My Generation >>>>>>>>> 25 minute redition of Dazed & Confused/Whole Lotta Love

It's between Queen's Live at Wembly and Cheap Trick's Live at Budokan.
KISS Alive and Frampton Comes Alive are cool too. Iron Maiden's Rock in Rio is sweet too.

The only thing I didn't like about HTWWW was that it wasn't really a full performance, just a bunch chopped together to make a "concert."

I always thought that version of Immigrant song was better than the studio version. It seems unnaturally loud, too.

If it's one of the late-sixties/early seventies boots, no, and I don't plan on it. Blueberry Hill is the only passable early Zeppelin boot to me. I mean, the performance itself might be good but the sound quality on most of them is terrible.

Went back through the original thread and saw Secret World Live by Peter Gabriel. Definitely solid, but - IMO - his first live album (Peter Gabriel - Plays Live) is perhaps even better. I actually prefer the live version of San Jacinto on that one over the original studio track.
In addition to those two live albums by Peter Gabriel, the vast majority of his live performances starting in 2003 with his second Growing Up tour (less "show" than the initial tour, but WAY more songs from his earlier albums being played) have been recorded and released through themusic.com as Encore Series CD's.
You can buy either a box set of an entire tour, or individual concert CD's. I purchased the one for the concert I attended, and it's excellent - with the following tracklist:
Red Rain
More Than This
Secret World
Games Without Frontiers
Mercy Street
Digging in the Dirt
Darkness
Don't Give Up
Tower That Ate People
Growing Up
San Jacinto
Solsbury Hill
Sledgehammer
Signal to Noise
In Your Eyes
Shock the Monkey
Father/Son

I checked it out, and its quality is even better than Blueberry Hill.
I listened to the Whiskey a go-go concert bootleg and DAMN the quality is amazing for 1969! That guy must have gotten good seats.

Both Kiss Alive! and Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous, while great albums, are not live albums at all. Gene and Paul have both admitted that Alive is essentially a studio creation and very little is actually live. Thin Lizzy's was also very heavily doctored in the studio and is mostly overdubs.

The Mission just released their farewell performances, where they did each of their first 3 albums live. I picked up Children and it's pretty damned good.

Ah, did not know.
Probably Pearl Jam's Live on Two Legs, then. Have not listened to many live albums.
