So I want to get a 360 and move on from my Wii. Note that I cannot sell the Wii. So I can get 250$ from GameStop for some games that I'm selling along with a 40% bonus thing. Now, I have 50$. Would it be better to get the Xbox Arcade and be able to get some old used games or get a pro and play only Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda for 2 months?
Thanks

When you take into account the hard drive, controllers, and other extra costs, it's more cost-effective to get the pro. Try to find the money to get at least a few other games, I'm sure you could get some used games for pretty cheap.

This some used games are as cheap as 15 dollars and really fun (looking at the awesomeness of Shadow Run :D)

I would consider just getting the year. It's less of a hassle. It's "less" without taking into account any PV of money or any financial ideas.

Well, you'd have to get a wireless adapter before you get Live, and that's about $80 or so new. (you could also get an ethernet cable) All in all it's a much better deal to get yearly, so I'd recommend saving up for that. First get some games though, LOL.

Ethernet cables are a lot more reliable and cost effective. Also you most likely will have an Ethernet cable lying around somewhere.

I'd agree with this if you put your Xbox somewhere near an ethernet port. If you're like me and it's nowhere near an ethernet port, though, then I would get the wireless adapter.

If you are planning on getting Guitar Hero II go ahead and get the x-plorer guitar for $20

I don't know of any Xbox that doesn't come with one.

All the 360s come with an Ethernet cable. I think its a 10 foot one. I may be wrong. My brothers use 100 foot cables rather than just getting a wireless adapter just because it is more cost effective and reliable.
Long story short: I would try to use an Ethernet cable if you could rather than a wireless adapter.

If you're an online gaming wh*re the 360 is the way to go. If you want longevity and limited games get a PS3.

I'd say go with the ethernet cable if you dont mind one silly wire. Wireless is not as trustworthy. Also, if you don't have the cable lying around, don't go to Best Buy or any of those stores.. try to find a small little computer store. My local BB had a 50 foot for 40 dollars, at the comp store around the corner from me it was 10.

I'd still rather pay 20 bucks and have to run the cable through the house than pay 80 for the wireless adapter.

The Xbox wireless adapter pretty much sucks. Trust me, I have one. I don't use it. I moved my router and modem closer to my Xbox instead so I can use an ethernet cable. I then gave the wireless adapter to a friend of mine, and it sucks at his house, too. His Xbox is about 50 feet from his router, and only two walls between them. Sitting on a chair that's 2 feet away from the Xbox, both our laptops (his an IBM Thinkpad, mine an Apple Macbook) have full strength wireless signals. The Xbox has 1 red bar, and it regularly disconnects mid-game.
Don't waste your money on it. Do whatever you have to do to use the ethernet cable. Try www.monoprice.com for long cables, I'm pretty sure you can get a 100 footer from them for around $10 including shipping and tax.

My wireless adapter works fine and I am pretty far away from the router going through three walls and never had a problem.

same, my router is awesome and i notice no difference between being plugged in and being wireless.
on topic:
I've always been so avidly against paying to play video games online, but the 360 is not expensive $70 for 13 months. I don't mind paying to play all my games online, but i do have an issue paying to play one single game online like WoW.
i don't own a PS3, but from what i've heard is that their online isn't quite as expansive as the 360's is, but the PS3 does offer free online gaming which is awesome.

I have both and while the 360 on line is better the PS3 is improving and some of the DL exclusives are awesome.

Dude, I DESPISE my 360 .. I am kicking myself now as it would be sold already if only I would have bought Rock Band for PS3 instead.
My 360 will for no reason at all tell me it "Can't read the disc". Then I get kicked out of the game completely (losing any progress on the setlist, as well as making it seem like I abandoned a gig if I'm playing online).
Also, I HATE paying Microsoft $60 / year just for the "priviledge" of playing online.
A word of advice, save up the extra $100 and get yourself a PS3 . It is a much more reliable system, more hard drive space, built in wireless, free online, and BluRay.

Your 360 is ****ing up then. Mine stopped reading after a year or two of playing.
And Microsoft makes you pay for the online because its a higher quality service than the PSN and its more polished.

There are pro's and con's to both systems.
lets see
PS3 is more reliable. not many people have there launch PS3 or 360s
more hard drive space my xbox is 120 gb
built in wireless so the xbox gives you the option to play wirelessly the PS3 forces you to pay for the wireless adapter because its included no matter if you will use it or not
free on xbox on line service costs money but it is better
BluRay is cool but so is the netflix service on xbox
for every argument about one being better than the other there is a counter arguement. They are both cool systems and personal preference is key.

I don't know why you pay so much for XBOX Live. There are so many deals these days for 13 months for $30. I've personally never paid more than $40 for 13 months (I've been on Live for about 2 years), which equals out to $3.08 per month. Even if you bought at retail price, it's $50 for 13 months. I'm not trying to get involved in a console war, but I'm trying to get the facts straight. Please don't blame Microsoft if you didn't look for deals and you overpaid even above the retail price.
