I am still pissed at EA for buying the NFL rights. Dont get me wrong, madden is a great game, but thai made them miss out on being able to make any more MLB games. And i loved the MVP series. 2K does a shiitty job with the mlb franchise. Anyways, i vote neutral.

Wow. Just wow.
A pile of crap vs. a pile of crap + Starcraft 2.
Hmm.

No none of the above. Both are too big, meaning they push the bottom line with safe profitable games, instead of making good, innovative games.

That pretty much sums it up right there.

I pick Actiblizzard or EA. EA gave Tiburon a bad name after they ran the madden series into the ground (last quality madden was 04), bought NFL rights after a higher quality game was produced by another company (NFL 2k5... plus it was $30 cheaper!) instead of upping their game, then are the ones responsible for the RB hardware snafu.

If it's a good game, it's a good game. I don't give a rat's ass who published it.

I'd throw in that the sucktastic GH3 cancels out the awesomeness of SC2... making it a wash.
I'm reminded of the South Park episode which pitted a giant douche versus a turd sandwich. ;)

Neither. Competition is good. Big conglomerates suck.
Back in the 80s, EA and Activision were the best publishers in the business. They only put out fresh, innovative titles and treated the game designers like rock stars - EA sold their games in little mini album covers and Activision always put the lead designer/programmers face on the back of the box. That continued throughout most of the 90s until EA started swallowing up smaller developers and using them to churn out lame sequel after lame sequel. Activision has followed suit in this decade first with Tony Hawk and other derivative action sports games and now appear to be doing so with Guitar Hero.
EA has actually redeemed themselves a bit in my eyes with skate. and their part in Rock Band, but they still probably get the bulk of their business from crap like Madden and their other sports games while freezing out good competition like 2k's football.

skate. > Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Rock Band >>>>> Guitar Hero 3
Madden 08 was actually decent.
I'd give ActiBlizzard its props for WoW...but I hate MMO subscriptions (I'm a Guild Wars guy myself)

Eh. The community is pretty damn divided, it seems, on the quality of GH3 (and I don't mean on these boards, I mean the gamer community). I think it's the best in the series, others think it sucks... hard to make any sort of objective judgement there, as far as judging a studio's quality goes.
However, fortunately, this is not an issue at all. What we have is:
Studio which churns out crappy games, with a good game every once in a blue moon vs. Studio which has ok games in general, I guess (don't know Activision's catalog well at all) + studio known for its extreme quality (seriously, what Blizzard game has NOT been universally praised?).
imo, even if we assume that EA is good and Activision is horrible, Blizzard can carry that company on its own. They're just that damn good.

They just announced GH 4 and CoD 5... a little early, you think?
