Last night was ****ing insane, it blew my ****ing head off. Here are some of the best moments:

Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, particularly at about 1:48... possibly the best version of Immigrant Song I've ever heard.

Metallica Performs with BOTH Robbie Trujillo and Jason Newsted. Seeing the two of them facing off on Bass and screaming into the same mic made this Metallica fan all giddy.

The finale... One Stage: Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hemmet, Jason Newsted, Robbie Trujillo, Jeff Beck, Flea, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and Ronnie Wood

no such thing as a good rock& roll hall of fame moment. Metallica is in, but maiden and priest aren't..
neither are rush and kiss, I have an infanent hate for the hall, that is all

500th post, but another milestone

I wonder why Jimmy didn't solo during TKaR. Joe Perry gave him a queue and everything.

I don't necessarily care about the hall as an institution, but the ceremony can facilitate really cool moments, like the ones I linked above. Without the Hall of Fame, we wouldn't have gotten that golden moment of RnR History with all of them on stage. Now I'm wondering what other big finales have happened in the past!

I kinda wish Bobby Womack was in on the ending. Granted he's not a hard rocker, but he is a singer and a guitarist, he could have done one or both along with James.

I'm somewhat suprised SRV didn't get in this year.

Yea, SRV is an absolute post-haste induction, hopefully next year. I'm glad that James went out of his way to list a bunch of heavier bands that are induction-ready that haven't gotten in yet. The HoF really hasn't let in any Heavy Metal bands aside from Metallica and Black Sabbath, I guess you can stretch that to include Led Zeppelin and AC/DC... but hard rock really isn't well represented, which is so weird considering it's such a big pillar of rock n roll.

by the way, as Jimmy Page gets older he looks more and more like Chow Yun Fat :P

I cannot celebrate an institution that inducted the Sex Pistols before the Stooges.

Shouldn't celebrate any institution that inducts the Sex Pistols.

Yeah I also wondered why Page didn't solo off too. I guess he would've just utterly destroyed all the others. That, or he felt like he shouldn't cos he wasn't the one getting inducted that night like Beck and Hammett (if that's the case, he didn't like what Perry did). I liked Jeff Beck's solo the most and I think Flea should've done a bass solo

Beck and Page together must have been fun

i'm glad you posted this because i recorded the event but it got cut off when Kirk was giving his thanks and didn't get to see Metallica perform with Rob & Jason and the finale. thanks man. This was awesome, gotta catch the encore this Saturday

Page>>>>Beck:p

Hell yeah man. Beck may have a crazier way of playing and do things with the guitar that no one had ever done, but Page has even more feeling and he didn't have to kinda make the guitar into a different instrument. Page thought of so many things and influenced more people

No problem! :)

The only thing that pissed me off, and I think this was probably Fuse's fault (god fuse sucks) was during the page/beck performance the volume keep going up and down a lot. This was so incredibly frustrating (you probably noticed in the video), especially so since I wanted to convert that into an audio file to keep on my ipod... but I'm not going to if the audio is all over the place. They ruined one of the coolest little moments ever! Stupid fuse!

Also, I'm surprised none of our rock-a-holic HMX people haven't commented on the hall of fame inductions! It was an epic night with members of Metallica, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin, and... oh... :o

It was nice that Hetfield acknowledged Priest, Rush, Maiden, Lizzy, etc. That made me really happy.

Yea, it wasn't until then that I really thought about it, but hard rock isn't well represented in the hall of fame outside of maybe 3 or 4 bands, which is ironic since that's one of, if not THE, biggest parts of Rock Music.

Page didn't solo because his strap was screwed up.

Oh, so he had to hold up his guitar while he was playing? And how do you know this?

Oh I thought that guy whispered into Page's ear. Something like..."DON'T SOLO!"
