So it's been 2 weeks and still no word from EA/Harmonix on what's being done to make other guitars work with RB!!!

Has anyone heard anything?!?!

I'm tired of waiting. If there is no positive announcement by Friday, I'll be returning my bundle this weekend.

It has nothing to do with EA/Harmonix since they are not the makers of the Les Paul. Go complain in the RedOctane/Activision board.

actually i would think they would have to work cooperatively to make the two compatible. their official release even said they would try to work together.

I returned GH 3 because the guitar wasn't backwards compatible. I didn't even like the LP anyway. So why don't you get your facts straight before you go trying to belittle me?

But just to avoid any more confusion, I am specifically asking about the older controllers. I still have the 2 guitars, (one by TAC, one that came with GH), that I have been using for GH, GH 2 and 80's, and I would like to be able to use them for RB. Since GH was made by Harmonix, this shouldn't be a big deal.

Didnt know I was belittling (sp?) you? If i was to do that I would ask you why you didnt put in 10seconds of research before you dropped $170 to find out the answer yourself.

But getting back to answering your question No the PS2 guitars will not work and will not in the future. That is a Sony thing. They have crushed 2 attempts by either companies or homebrews to get them to work. I honestly wish I would never bought one since all they do is stifle a great community with all of their bizarre choices.

I did do my research smart guy. IGN reported that the GH guitars worked. How was I supposed to know they had only tested the 360 version?!?! Plus EA/Harmonix advertised that RB would work with "most third party controllers". Sure as hell sounds like it's supposed to work with GH guitars to me!!!

But anyway, I agree, Sony is a stupid company, and the PS 3 has been nothing but a HUGE disappointment to me. Oh well. Guess I'll be returning RB this weekend.

No biggie. I could use the money right before X-mas anyway.

I totally agree that Harmonix needs to fix this. It's not fair that the ps3 les paul doesnt work as a guitar when it WORKS just fine as a controller for ALL THE menus. Meanwhile the Xbox360 works just fine.

Don't say its because its hardwired vs wireless. The only reason it doesnt work is because rockband ps3 forces you into Controller\MIC mode when the "official" guitar isnt plugged in. Try to play and it asks you to plug in the microphone. Yet all the buttons work in the menus, as it should since it just a controller in a different housing.

I've done enough video game programming to know this should just be a simple patch fix. Allow me to force-play without a microphone and just a controller and it'll work fine.
