I just listened to the song Mr. Banker, man that is tight. Anyone know what album it's on? Also wondering if there might be some other skynyrd I might dig, I've really only heard what they play on the radio and maybe a greatest hits cd. Only a couple I like out of the greatest hits, and I only kinda like those.

if i'm not mistaken it was the b-side to "gimme three steps"...
i'd recommend checking out more non-singles from the first few albums.

Their first album is the only one I like.
I feel like after that they kinda got watered down by too-clean production and some more radio-friendly material. They lost that layer of grit that made them interesting.
Still some good stuff on the later albums though.

I'm pretty sure I started off with one of their greatest hits albums and at some point I heard "Call Me The Breeze" and went out and bought Second Helping on cassette so I could have that song.
Some bands I've stumbled across and liked that have had Skynyrd musicians in the group are Blackfoot, (favorite songs from them are "Highway Song" and "Train Train" on the Strikes album).
Another would be the Rossington Collins Band...

Not Skynyrd related and off-topic but Molly Hatchet's another group from that genre I like quite a bit. A couple favorites from them...

Although I don't actually have any of their albums, I love the songs "Gimme Back My Bullets" and "That Smell".

Ugh, that cover of dreams is unbearable to me.
It just completely loses that certain floaty quality that the original version has.

I'll have to find "Crossroad Blues" either in your blog or see if I have it and give it a listen.

haha....thanks. I've been lurking a little for the past week so I know what you're talking about.
I just got through listening to "Crossroad Blues" and I liked that one quite a bit. Makes you wonder how many times that song's been covered.

"Mr. Banker" was a demo that never got released originally....Ronnie cut the track just before the '77 plane crash. Skynyrd put together a posthumous record ten years later called Legend that featured stuff Ronnie was working on before his death; that's the album where you'll find "Mr. Banker."
