I, like many others have the trouble of my red pad not registering many fast hits. I started experimenting with it, and learned if I kept pressure on the pad, it worked 100% better!
So all you have to do is take some electrical tape and tape down the top of the pad to the hard plastic sides as to suppress the spring inside. No need to remove any parts, and it's a good fix while you wait for your replacement!
Post here if this works for you also!

That is a great idea -- does anyone know whether the new drum kits have this problem rectified? I've literally spent hours on songs with fast snare / hi-hat rolls like "Don't Fear the Reaper" and "Run to the Hills." I'll definitely try this out.

New drum kits have been hit or miss it seems. I hear about half of the people saying theyre great, and the other half saying theyre worse. I was about to send mine in, but now that theyre working fine with the tape, Im going to wait a few weeks, and hopefully the supply will be in better condition.

Worked for me too....after having my replacement set not work, I tried the tape thing and finally beat won't get fooled and run to the hills on hard to finish that career. Might actually try expert now that the red pad is functioning a little bit better.
