If you haven't watched it yet, please do so. Probably one of the saddest House episodes ever.

SPOILER!!

R.I.P. Lawrence Kutner
1976-2009
http://www.fox.com/kutner/

He was probably one of my favorites out of the new 3. You have no clue how hard i cried to see that he committed suicide. It was a big shocker, i even cried for the first 5 minutes of Heroes tonight. I Even cried seeing Taub break down at the end of the episode.

It was a big shocker. I Seriously never saw this coming.

Just watched the remembrance video on fox.com.

Half the crap he did was so stupid, but it was that stupidity that made me like Kutner so much.

This is truly a sad episode.

I hate how shows tend to kill off my favorite characters. Hello Curtis Manning in 24? I swear, if they kill off Turk in Scrubs, I'm done with TV.

My fiancee cried and I was pretty close. Pretty crazy episode.

I just watched it on some rather sketchy site (I googled "watch house online") and yeah. Definitely a good one. At the end with Taub, almost got me.

Edit: Weird. I just started up iTunes and hit shuffle. The first song that came up was BB King- The Letter. The first line is "I have a good mind to give up living" and the rest of the song kind of comes back to that idea a lot. *shudder*

BuRn7 CaK3

I mean it was a great episode. But what still gets me is, why?

Why did he commit suicide? Was it because of his parents? Was it because he just couldn't handle it anymore?

That's what i want to know.

*edit* Did anyone read those notes in the link on the OP? Chase was mean with is. And Wilson has bad handwriting.

citric_bullets

I think the fact that we don't know why is kind of the point. I mean, everything with House is figuring out a puzzle, and with something like this sometime the answer is only apparent to one person.

BuRn7 CaK3
04-07-2009, 02:12 AM
Yeah i figured that out already.

But that was the thing that hurt (aka made me cry more), was why he did it.

Q: I understand it was your decision to leave House. True?

KAL PENN: Yes. I was incredibly honored a couple of months ago to get the opportunity to go work in the White House. I got to know the President and some of the staff during the campaign and had expressed interest in working there, so I'm going to be the associate director in the White House office of public liaison. They do outreach with the American public and with different organizations. They're basically the front door of the White House. They take out all of the red tape that falls between the general public and the White House. It's similar to what I was doing on the campaign.

This isn't the change I voted for...

Kutner is left handed.

Gunshot wound to the RIGHT temple.

House went to great lengths to discount Taub's value to the team while praising Kutner's.

Taub acted 'funny' the entire episode and had an emotional breakdown at the end. Guilt, perhaps?

Kutner and Taub had a long conversation about suicide in a previous episode.

Taub killed his friend Kutner to secure his job and place on House's team and deeply regretted his actions after watching the lengths that the patients of the week would travel to save each other's lives.

I *will* eat my, or someone else's hat if I'm wrong.

maybee Ken Starr well solve it.

TheDeacon_Reloaded
04-07-2009, 04:57 AM
But what gets me is, why would his friend murder him?

Because House made it clear in a recent episode that Taub was not needed and was entirely redundant to Kutner.

Taub has expressed repeatedly his frustrations over money and lack of job security, which was underlined when House initially refused to rehire him.

Taub is a coward and Taub is a man with low self esteem that's tried so hard to prove himself worthy of...anything and falls flat on his face every time. He's failed to win House's approval and recognizes himself as superfluous to the team and the butt of jokes more and more this season.

Taub asked for his job back because he wanted to feel as though he was doing something worthwhile with his career. When House refused to rehire him and jabbed over and over at Taub for not reaching a differential before Kutner, it poked at his sense of self worth.

Eliminate Kutner and Taub's job would be ironclad. There would be nobody to outperform him and being short a staff member would mean that House could not afford to let Taub go.

Clues have been dropped the entire season.

-House slamming Taub and telling him that Kutner was a better doctor

-Taub's comment to Kutner that the latter had thousands of online friends closer than he (indicating a lack of self esteem and mentally justifying murder by indicating they were not true friends)

-The conversation about suicide was a dead giveaway

-House's comment about Kutner being left handed was so unusual in that House would have noticed Kutner's left handedness immediately. Why bring it up after years of working with him unless it was purely to drop a clue to us, the viewers?

citric_bullets

As I said earlier, I've missed quite a bit of season 5. As much as I wanted to love the show like I did when I first started watching it, the "almost kill them twice, third time's the charm" formula was getting a bit old. But, yeah, a twist like this willmake the rest of the season quite a bit darker, as well as quite a bit more interesting.

It wasn't that for me. It was the fact that the new team is nowhere as interesting as the old team was, the fact that the most boring member of the old team was the one that stayed on in the biggest role, the fact that I can't stand Cuddy's character anymore ("oh, I wanna be a mommy sooo bad!"), the fact that for most of the season the Wilson/House relationship has been the worst it's been since the completely atrocious Tritter story arc in season three, and the fact that, with no interesting characters around him, House comes across less as a sarcastic smart ass and more as just an ass.

While I hate to see Kutler go (he was my favorite of the new ones, though that isn't saying much), it opens the door for something to come in and make the show great again.

Solving a murder puzzle is very much in the flavor of solving a medical puzzle. So I don't discount anything just yet.

I could see that twist happening, especially with the whole left/right handed thing. Either that was an error in the script writing or a giveaway how House will eventually figure it out.

It would also be a great avenue to bring back Cameron/Chase to more prominent roles on the series by bringing them back on the team.

Yes, give me time to figure this out. Give me time to bring out my inner Sherlock Holmes

*pulls out a ten gallon cowboy hat and slams it on the table*

Perhaps some salt as a condiment. Next week, all shall be seen. Or perhaps the week after....or early next season.

Dammit, I should have specified conditions for the hat eating.
