Hey everyone--for those of you that don't know, my name is Zookey aka Josh Hughes---check out the latest entry in my blog

http://teamkaizengames.com/kblog.php

It is about how I sent Red Octane a letter a few weeks back about seeing if they'd work with Harmonix on the whole Rock Band PS3 Les Paul not working issue--after seeing their attitude VS Harmonix's I have NO problem saying this is Red Octane's issue----part of me wants to say lets harass them until they allow Harmonix to patch the game but I think I will wait for stand-alone Strats, this is crap!

Right...

"Hi Neversoft, could you patch Harmonix's software so the guitar from Red Octane will work with it? The only reason I bought your software was for the Red Octane guitar, and it doesn't work."

What the heck did you expect?:p

Why did anyone ever think they would work with them? This is vicious, bloodthirsty competition to them. They never acted like they wanted to be friendly to Harmonix after the split. Why would they change?

Erm, do I need to point out that Red Octane are owned by Activision (or, should I say Blizzard Activision?)? Do I then have to point out that the seeming reason why Harmonix is not still working with them is because of this?

Activision = rival company or, in other words, competition.

I dont see how anyone can not see how all this adds up to Red Octane not wanting to help without it benefitting GH in some way.

Because, people love to take sides. Xbox VS Playstation, Guitar Hero VS Rock Band--this would normally mean the inevitable creation of Rock Band fanboys who would normally NEVER buy Guitar Hero again just to support Rock Band. IF they patched the game, they would be doing something nice for RB fanboys and, by doing so, making them more neutral and willing to purchase the 'rival' product---essentially getting your rival's customers to embrace you as well, which would have lead to higher sales.

BTW food for thought----Red Octane didn't try to make their ignition dance pads ONLY work with In The Groove when they launched that series....so this guitar thing was actually a departure from form---not to mention the 360 one works which means that they apparently weren't totally opposed to compatibility.

2nd post---actually man I asked them to allow Harmonix to make a patch (technically, it is RO's guitar so Harmonix would need permission)---and Red Octane would have got a sale out of it but now they lost one--so it is bad business sense to make the customers pay for a petty rivalry or whatever lame reason they have floating in their heads...........

I dont think they are worried about "RB fanboys".......I hope you realise that such people make an extremely small percentage of the people who buy/play Rock Band.

I think RO/Activision/Neversoft will be wanting to focus on the market as a whole rather than some minority.

I also heard that the Les Pauls work on a slightly different frequency to the general standard that the Strat uses, so I think RO have been making the guitars not work (at least on a standard) on purpose.

I cant be bothered arguing this, its not worth it anyway seeing as the Strats are better IMO.

I agree the strats are better-----but still it wouldn't be much work (just telling Harmonix it'd be ok) and it would garner them more sales--what is not to like? To me it seems petty, even more so that they couldn't muster a decent response considering I actually bought their product!
