I've been playing for a little while and I've noticed that advancing in BWT mode is extrmemly slow. My friend and I play on Medium/Hard (depending on the song). We have about 20-25 songs available and I feel like we've played them all at least 5-10 times. We try to just go through and beat everything that says "new" on it, but we still don't seem to be unlocking things very fast.
My question is basically am I doing something wrong or is this game just extremely slow? I am getting the impression that there's something I'm missing. If anyone could give a real quick explanation of how you advance as quick as possible I would be very thankful.

Band World Tour is meant to be a wide open experience that you can do in a very non-linear way.
But you don't have to jump into everything that says "new" right away.
One thing we did was do all the single-song gigs we could do that were specific songs (unlocking them). As we did that, some more venues and songs opened up. We didn't go back and do any multi-song setlists until there were no more single songs to unlock.
(We were trying to avoid what happened the first time several of us opened BWT, which was that we ended up playing Say It Ain't So about 8 times in the first three hours.)
After we doubled back and started doing choose-your-own-set gigs, we opened up some more venues. The first time we did a mystery setlist was when we wanted to get the Van, which opened new cities, venues, and gigs. Again, we went into the venues we could and played the single-song lists until we couldn't play any more new songs, then went back and did what we needed to do to unlock the next thing.
So at this point in that game, we have the Bus and are working on getting a Sound Man (or is it Roadies?), but we still have a whole lot of gigs that we haven't played, choosing to save them for when we need to get more stars to unlock more stuff.
But, as I said, you can play it any way you want. The whole system is very flexible.

Is it really a big problem that you don't advance "quickly"? Do you really want BWT to be completed in an afternoon? I love the length of BWT.
As far as having a limited pool of songs, try unlocking them in solo first. This gives you a lot more variety for your created and random setlists.
