The mics look almost identical besides the logo. I dont want to buy the Rock Band bundle, just the game.

They're probably indistinguishable.

While I'm not positive it is that exact model, the rock band mic is a logitech mic. That one should work just fine.

As far as I'm aware, you can use any USB mic with the game.

The Rock Band mic has one difference, it contains a tilt sensors for the tamborine/clap/cow bell sections. I think that's the ONLY difference. Since those sections are options, the Logitech should work fine.

Ahh.. forgot about that... I thought it was just the noise of the smacking that triggered it.

Are you sure? I just read that the mic just hears the sound of you hitting it.

Not true at all. It's just the noise of smacking it... you can also say 'pow' or something to achieve the same effect (although, it's trickier).

I am having issues with a logitech desktop mic with the 360, so I am not sure about any USB mic working. I have posted my details in the tech support forum but haven't heard any follow up about it yet. And before anyone suggests it, yes I do have a controller turned on for the mic and the game does see it there, it just doesn't pick up anything. It is a confirmed working mic and the audio settings are turned up to highest sensitivity/output. So don't spend any money until you can confirm the mike you want works with the game.

That mic should work. I just found a review of someone that is using it.

I think the official line is, "most USB mics will work".
I have a Logitech mic that I had from Karaoke Revolution that works, but I'm pretty sure it's the same (or very close) mic.

well, considering that logitech is making the HMX mic, you would think a logitech mic WOULD work. The game does see it, lets you load into a song, just nothing happens when you sing into it, seems more like a bug to me than a case of a mic that is not recognized (like most USB headset mic's).
Just my opinion based on my personal observations of testing various devices.

Same here. The Logitech USB mic that I have is from the PS2 Karaoke Revolution and it works like a charm with the XBox-360 Rock Band. It looks pretty much just like the USB mic pictured on that BestBuy link.
