Eugene (KMTR) – A man shot himself to death in a Eugene movie theater just after midnight Monday morning.

Police say about 10 patrons were in an auditorium at Regal Cinemas watching the movie “Watchmen.” About midway through the film some of the moviegoers told the manager they heard a “popping” noise like a gunshot. A 24-year-old man was found in the rear of the auditorium with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say the man shot himself and was dead when they arrived.

The patron closest to the man was sitting two rows away.

glad i didn't pay to see it.

Maybe he was depressed at the awkward sex scene between Night Owl and Silk Spectre...

No.

Although since it is a social commentary piece, I wouldn't be surprised someone couldn't handle it.

Also, Dr. Manhattan loses his humanity, and everything he says is sort of a soul less observation.

Wow, And I thought I had seen everything that could happen at a theatre from working at a theatre.

I feel bad for the kid that has to clean it up JK

yes, the movie, in terms of its relation to the comic, is that bad.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed both, I disagree.

i just didn't quite get the same feel from the movie as i did when i read the comic. Then again i always prefer the books.

Oh, I agree that the movie was nowhere near as good as the comic... but that would've been impossible to achieve. I do feel that Snyder made as good an adaptation as possible, though, that still packs a lot of the punch that the comic had. I'm looking forward to the extended DVD edition with the Black Freighter/Under the Hood material added.

Ok, that was weird. I've heard of people walking out of movies. But someone putting a gun to his head? That's a new one.

this was what really turned me off from the movie. There was so much philosophy in those sequences that it's hard for me to imagine experiencing Watchmen and having those parts left out.

Neil is awesome. Subtitled his Neverwhere TV series as part of my university thesis. Got a private interview with him out of that too. Really nice guy.

!!

He seems like a nice guy. He's one of the very few people who I actually take the time ever so often to stop in a read their blog.

I have the Neverwhere book but it got in a fight with my attention span and lost. I keep meaning to read it, and I do want to read it. I guess I could say I'm saving it for a rainy day. A very rainy day. A monsoon of cats and dogs kind of rainy day. But that's not to say I think it's a bad book! I constantly regret neglecting to read it.

The Sandman series is one of my favorite anythings.
