View Full Version : Timing issues

I think that EA/Harmonix first concern besides DLC is to update this game's mechanics. I am starting to get mildly frustrated with the game guitar-wise. It seems that the timing windows are extremely strict and I've pretty much given up on hammer-ons/pull-offs without extra strumming. The game doesn't have to be easy, but I am starting to get frustrated when I am missing easy sections of solos due to bad game mechanics.
I'm playing on expert, and I've got 5 stars on 95% of the songs, but it is still frustrating to see sections I know I can easily hit, only to completely miss half of it despite the fact that my hands were there. Considering the solos I can rip through easily on Guitar Hero 2+3, much of what is in Rock band shouldn't be a problem, but it is. So essentially it looks like I suck at Rock band in comparison to what I can do in Guitar Hero.
Anyone else noticing the same thing? I know I'm not the only one, everyone I've talked to IRL is having similar issues.

1) Yes the timing windows are smaller, but this is a design decision, not a flaw.
2) Have you calibrated your system correctly?
3) Is your guitar working properly?
4) I have had no problems, so this is unique to either your setup, or to your ability.

Do you know if the timings are larger than Guitar Hero one? I've noticed that they're pretty close.

I believe they are comparable. I know somebody has taken the time to compare them, but I can't remember. Smaller than GH2 by a little bit, and definitely smaller than GH3.

1) Well I can understand the design decision to a certain degree in relation to the new guitar controller; specifically the lower fret buttons. Benefits /= Consequences IMO
2) yes everytihng is fine, I'm not clueless. I've been playing music games like this most likely before you even knew they existed in all honesty.
3) My guitar is fine, you may not have thoroughly read my post. Keep in mind, I don't use the rock band guitar, and thus have no defective issues. I use the same guitar I've been using since GH2.
4) Well, whether meant as a cheap jab or not, that statement is a fallacy as it confines the problem to only two categories that specifically relate to your experience only, restricting other realistic and higher probable scenarios.
Anyway. I'm glad to hear others then just a few friends/family members with similar problems. I'm kinda the same way in the sense that I really bought Rock Band for the drums anyway, but I enjoy switching over to guitar every once in a while.

Works fine for me. I actually can't play guitar hero now because rock band owns.
