My PS3 recognizes that there is a USB device being attached. I just got rockband today. IT says that it is an unrecognized device.
So when me and a friend go to play. IT recognizes my controller and allows microphone, but doesn't recognize the drumset.
Are there some options in the PS3 system settings I have to work with.
PLEASE tell me it isn't defective.
Someone help me out.
Thanks

Have you tried plugging it into a computer and looked at the device name? It is also possible that some of the electronics were shorted out in transit.

I plugged it into a computer and it recognized it as a USB device with no name.
This sucks - Anyway to name it correctly?

I'll try plugging my 360 drums into my computer to see what they show. It seems likely that your USB controller is fried and you will need to RMA for new drums.

Can you navigate with the drumset in the XMB? If not your drums are probably defective.

No, Well here's a weird food for thought.
I saw that the playstation light ring on the drums is red. But I've seen them in a video and the light is green when it works.
No I can't navigate or anything with them.
And I've heard of how bad this RMA junk is, are you sure it is the only way?

The lights that turn on when my instruments are in use are also red. I don't believe that is the problem.

Nope, the only light that is there is red, and it means it's connected.
For the original poster - no, you don't have to do anything special to make the drums work, they just work.... or in your case, just don't. If you have a friend with a PS3 you could try them on his machine, but I think it's likely that you just got a bum set.
