From the announcements page: (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?p=171109#post171109)

Available today is a routine update for the PLAYSTATION 3 version of
Rock Band that addresses a number of items related to guitar controller
compatibility. Should Rock Band owners choose to obtain the update, they
will need broadband internet access connected to their PLAYSTATION 3.
The update will be downloaded once the game is started.

Have any PS3 owners encountered this patch yet? If so, are you able to play Rock Band using your GH3 controller?

I have yet to see the update on my system.

It's not available yet. I think maybe Sean should have waited until it was up and ready before posting that, but hopefully it will be available in no time.

Well, everyone has been complaining about not knowing exactly what the next update will be, so this is for them.

Different patch. This one was supposed to be released today, but I don't see it going up until either tomorrow or Thursday (regular PSN update day), and it was intended to fix the Les Paul compatability problem, as far as I know.

Guys when you download this thing, be sure to test out the ps2 sgs with adapters as well!

It's not even up yet. You downloaded the first patch. There was one on launch day and if you just bought it you would have downloaded the first patch.

Oh man, if I can use my PS2 SG with the adapter as a bass until I get my second Strat I'll be a happy happy boy.

This is pretty awesome. This means I can have my full band when I get the freaking game in Canada like, in two weeks.

Rock on.

the ps2 guitar hero guitar adapter didnt even make the guitar work for guitar hero II like it was supposed to. hammer-on pull-offs wouldnt register. that = not working to me.

I find it dumb that the pelican adaptor has to be on menu mode (red) in order for the PS2 controllers to work decently. I don't mind not being able to do hammeron's and pulloffs since I didn't know how to do them when I started playing but at least it's playable. Better than being on guitar mode/green and pressing green/orange at the same time.

Well that could be because the game wasn't programmed to work with it on that system. GH I and II was programmed for the ps2 obviously lol

Harmonix could make their PS3 game recognize it and make it work right.

All the Pelican adapter does for the GH2 mode is make it work like a regular controller. (In GH2, a regular controller doesn't need to strum) That's why HOPOs don't work. The adapter just sees what frets are held down and when you strum, it presses the correct buttons. It doesn't try to adapt to it at all.

HOWEVER, since GH1 mode works fine and passes the original signal, Harmonix could EASILY make that be detected.

This sounds like awesome news, especially for us special ones who have imported the game and have broken guitars. Can't wait, thanks in advance Harmonix!

This would be sooooo awesome if it works. Since I have a launch bundle and can't open it till Christmas, when the star inevitabely breaks, I'll still be able to play!

There was an unexpected delay (not tied to the Thursday cycle) that we're looking into (the information is a bit buried in the announcement page, so thought I would update here as well). Please post in the announcement thread concerning the update so we don't clutter up the RB forum. Thanks!
