XBox 360 question

I know it'd probably be more informative to go to the main Xbox site, but that'd mean another password, confirmation, etc. So I'll just ask you friendly folk.

1. In a nutshell, is it possible to take the HD's content from one 360 (which has died), and allow it to work on another 360 (which is still kicking)? I'm not talking about physically transferring the DLC, just authorizing it to play on a different console.

Take your HD, put it in the other Xbox, and sign into your gamertag, or you can do a license transfer officially via Microsoft.

Thanks much. I probably come off as a doofus not trying this already, but it's...oh, 30 miles to get the 360 to an Internet connection, and I just wanted to be sure. :D
