So.. how many people use the little finger for the blue notes?

I naturally assumed that was the way to go when I started on medium, as a real guitar player... but its killing me on the harder levels to get that little finger over to the left.. normally guitar frets get smaller the higher you go, but not in this game.

Do people tend to use three or four fingers?

Thanks!

i use the pinky for blue on medium
either pinky or ring finger on hard and expert, depending if I have to shift my hand.

if you're on medium, just use 4 fingers, no need to shift your hand.
if youre on hard or higher, just practice, or you could shift your hand so your 4 fingers are normally on red yellow blue orange, and if you need to hit green then shift your index finger.

I keep my fingers on R-Y-B-O when on hard. But, it takes me a few plays to get used to it.

I generally play with just my first three fingers on expert, though I will use my pinky on occasion. I've found it's made me better with some of the faster parts since my pinky can't always seem to keep up with my other fingers.

It all depends on the song. I generally use my pinky on most songs, but on faster parts with lots or scales I tend to use just the three main fingers. I've found it very helpful to get used to playing with three positions, rather than two, even if you DO use the pinky (index on green, red or yellow). I found it especially helpful on songs likes Psychobilly Freakout, The Trooper and Before I Forget in the GH games. Also in three note up and down scales like in Ride the Lightning.

The real problem I'm having is shifting from the normal frets to the solo ones. Most of the time I don't even bother trying, but having tried using the solo buttons in practice I think they really do make some of the harder solos a lot easier once you get used to them.

Keep the hand on R-Y-B-O for the most part, stretch the index to hit green. Unless there's a lot going on in the G-R-Y part.

This is the only correct way to do it.

The only correct way.
