GH:M Couldn't get UFO/Misfits for "Legal reasons"

What about the songs from other bands that are in the game? Did you guys pick all of those bands, and were there any specifics that you picked?
Hammett: Well, I wanted UFO to be in there, but for legal reasons we couldn't do it so we had to settle for Michael Schenker Group. Same thing with The Misfits. We would have loved for The Misfits to be on here, but for legal reasons, we have Samhain instead.

I know there's already a UFO thread but I thought I'd post this by itself to maybe shed some light on them. Who knows, maybe HMX already got some exclusivity tracks with them and therefore GH wouldn't get them :D

Mmmmm the Misfits. If anybody knows there GNR, they know they covered a misfits song on the spaghetti incident. Therefore next GNR album will be the spaghetti incident.

Which bring me to my question, because UFO isn't THAT big of a band why would there be legal reasons?

Well let's see. Maybe the record label just plain doesn't want to. Or maybe one of the composers can't be located to ask permission, or just plain doesn't want to. Maybe their lawyer is just a d-bag. There's a whole host of possible reasons. Use your imagination.

I have a feeling the legal issues involving the misfits are about the way the rights are handled between Danzig and Only.

personally I doubt that Misfit masters are available. I mean the audio quality of even the albums are poor at best. I love the bands but if the audio quality is that poor on the albums, i believe the recordings were mixed on to one track

Yeah The Misfits we will probably never see in a master recording. At least not the old Misfits when they were still awesome (when Danzig was with them). The ****storm between Danzing and Only will definitely not help either. Too bad on all counts cause they were awesome.
