So now that we might get GH3 guitar compatiblity, do they sell the guitar by itself?

Not yet. Looks like the release date is 1/22/08.

I think I just answered my own question. I see that these guitars are not for sale yet either. So those of us who don't own GH3 are still screwed when it comes to getting a second guitar before February. That sucks.

What you saw were preorders. They're not available until later in January.
However, Guitar Hero 3 is also a good game, so if you want even more rockin' out and a second guitar, it's a good purchase.

Do they sell GH-3 guitars separately? Or is that what is expected out on 1/22/08. I was thinking that was the RB stand alone? Or has that date not been posted yet?

They do not currently sell GH3 guitars separately.
1/22/08 for PS3, 1/28/08 for Wii (according to ToysRUs.com)
They'll probably offer the game standalone at that time as well.

Gee, do you think it might be an appropriate question if after the patch comes out you could buy one for separately for GH-III and use it for Rock Band? Would it not be the ONLY way of getting a second guitar for RB faster?
But keep posting quick responses without thinking. It gets your post numbers up!

At least, on ebay, the LP is selling at 130$ easily, but its price might raise once it can be used for Rock Band. At that price, you better get GH3.

The Stratocaster from Rock Band sells for $130. I doubt the Les Paul from Guitar Hero sells for $130, since the bundle itself only costs $100.

As I said, it doesn't sell for so much right now, but it could raise the price if it works with RB. Some people are idiots. If I wanted to buy a second guitar, I would buy another bundle and sell the drums, game and mic to someone for like 90-100$. That would be more worth it than paying 130$ for a single guitar while for 40$ more, you have the full bundle.

Just to echo the sentiment mentioned elsewhere, GH3 is a great game all by itself and I wouldn't consider it a loss to buy it just to get the guitar. I am sure things change once you get into medium and hard, but I actually found the beginning guitar in Guitar Hero much more compelling then what I've played in Rockband so far (which admittedly isn't much as I'm into drums right now).

The ironic thing for me, is that i was going to buy GHIII at the same time with RB just to get the extra guitar for four player. Of course once i found out it wasn't compatible i did not buy GHIII. Now that it is finally gonna be compatible, i don't think i want it. the strat (when it is working) is a far superior Guitar IMO, and gHIII, while being a great game, i just dont see getting much play time. I always play with my wife or other people, and they prefer the easier and more varied tracklist from RB.
