So here's something that's been driving me nuts since day one. What were the criteria for the guitars that went into the game?

I ask because there's all the different Jackson Warriors and King Vs, but not a single Rhoads (arguably their most famous design), Dinky or Soloist. As for Fender, the game ships with a maple-board Strat controller. How come I can't get a (single-neck) maple-board Strat in-game? Clapton's "Blackie", Hendrix, EVH, Malmsteen, Blackmore, even Sambora. The most iconic Stratocasters kinda lean toward those with maple fingerboards. Is there any real reason that was left out? I don't know the ins and outs of the guitar models, especially with the animations and loading screens taken into account, but it just seems (to me, and I'll cop to just being one opinionated fan) that there was an opportunity here for FMIC to really get deep with their classic instruments, as well as their current models. I mean, the Big Block is okay, but where's the Aerodyne bass? Or more from the Squier side, like the Venus, or the OBEY stuff? Or the Guild Pilot? Where's the really funky stuff, like the Performer, or an Antigua finish?

Barring that, a more robust create-an-axe coulda been SO much fun. Not that the current one isn't, but to have just a touch more flexibility in finishes, pickguards, matching headstocks and the like woulda just put it way over the top for a guitard like me.

Any thoughts, those who would know?

i agree completely.

rest assured, you aren't the only one who has wanted this sort of thing. homebrew artists make their own finishes, headstocks and fretboard patterns for the ps2 version of GH2 and GH80s, and for people with very little design knowledge, the final product looks pretty good, so i can only imagine that this will be something addressed eventually...after all, big business will take anything that homebrew is doing if it shows that enough people are as anal about the way their axes look as some of us are.

anyway, i would like to take a second to commend the rock band team for at least making it much more flexible than before. i love being able to at least somewhat decorate my guitar...all around, the customization is heads and shoulders over most other games, i have no reason to believe it won't get better.

Another year, and the selection hasn't gotten that much better. What gives? Anyone know?
