View Full Version : Frustrated over a video game

I think this is the most frustrated that I've ever been over a video game. This is quite ridiculous. Video games should be stress relievers, not stress inducers!

I purchased Rock Band two saturdays ago, and within hours of play, my guitar runs into strum problems, meaning that on the SAME DAY, the hardware fails.

I then set up a guitar replacement request via the website, delighted by the fact that they appear to be on top of things, and ready for everything; seeing that they are offering two day shipping.

Then I receive nothing but silence for five more days, four of which are business days. On the following thursday, I see that my label has finally been printed. I somewhat rejoice; seeing actions finally taken. I had seen that, however, through these forums, that people who have their orders in after me have received service in a more expedited manners. What sort of queue system do they really have in place here?

So, anyways, while the EA support site says that the package was shipped, I sit again in silence until the following monday (well after the two day delivery window), and see that my package is still in Kansas (I live in Washington.) My package, however, appears to still be scheduled for delivery the next day.

Yesterday, I was awaiting my package, and then I come to find that UPS believed that my package has sustained water damage (!). I call their number, and after finding nothing of help at the phone number, I ring up EA. I come into contact with a very helpful fellow who speaks to his manager and finds out that I need to keep pressing '0' in order to find live help at the UPS line. I call the UPS line, and they tell me that no information will be available until the end of the day, when their damage people come in to inspect my package. I hear nothing back from them, and find on the website later that they have sent everything back to EA.

I then phone EA, and find that what I should be doing is setting up another RMA request, so I do just that with the representative. Assured, I check the UPS tracking page for the second RMA request that I just made. I find an odd difference between the new package and the one that I didn't recieve; the weights are vastly different in proportion.

Finding this odd, I again call EA. I am told that the last request was sent through a standard shipping method. I then set up another express shipment, just like my first RMA.

Things do at least seem to be moving along speedily this time. Which is good. I called EA customer service again, hoping for more help. As some on this forum have testified, they were allowed to keep their broken guitars, and even given help in order to try to fix them. I try to see if this is something that can be done for me. I am quickly shot down. Which is really too bad. A free game would have also been nice, but all I really want is to be able to play the video game for which I paid $170. Using the Playstation 3, it really would have been a boone to receive another guitar, seeing as there is no other controller available, aside from a patch that will SUPPOSEDLY fix all of these troubles.

Maybe this two day shipment will actually arrive in two days? Maybe another five like the last. This is so frustrating!

I feel your pain.

While you wait, you can strum the d-pad, or try upstrumming, or try the masking tape repair on your strum bar, to get you rocking.
They will get all this crap sorted out, and this game will take it's place as the greatest music videogame of all time.

I'm with you, man. If my THIRD guitar isn't absolutely flawless, I'm returning the game. No video game is worth this much stress and hassle.

Uh, if I read his post correctly, he's a PS3 player. Assuming he has GH3, at least the recent Les Paul patch should let him use the LP with the game, but if he doesn't have GH3, he's SOL since the Les Pauls aren't sold separately yet either.

I know how the OP feels though. One of my good friends hasn't been able to play guitar since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when his guitar crapped out. He put in a repair request but since money was tight he opted to take the 'wait for a coffin' method.

It's been exactly 2 weeks since submitting his ticket and still no coffin for his guitar. Meanwhile, his red drum pad has crapped out and his bass kick has hairline fractures in it, so he's stopped playing the drums and has to put a ticket up for that, as well.

I love the game, but when 2/3rds of the hardware is faulty, practically out of the box, there's a problem. And an even bigger one when they apparently knew there were going to be issues and put big pink slips in each box. That sent up red flags the minute we opened the game.

Edit: I hate to say this but if EA were smart, in addition to fixing all these RMA issues, they'd immediately license out the ability to make third party guitars and drum sets. Frankly, I'm a bit let down by the quality of the drum "quad" even when there's no issues with it. I'd love to see a third party manufacturer make a set that is similar to an on-stage drum set rather than a marching band style quad, plus it would also allow for options other than waiting extended periods of time for a replacement that may be just as broke as the hardware that was returned.
