Why can I turn on my Xbox from any controller / GH guitar, but the Rock Band Drums will NOT power up the Xbox? The guitar may not power it up either, but I haven't tested this yet.
I have to power it on via a standard controller or the power button on the Xbox.
Major oversight?

Nope... no oversight. My drums power up my 360, no problem.

My drums don't power on my PS3 either, my guess is because they aren't powered themselves, and when the system is off it doesn't send power to the USB ports.

Are you using the USB hub? or USB straight into the Xbox?
I am using the hub, maybe thats the reason?

I see what the XBox owner is saying. The normal XBox controller can power on the whole unit. Maybe you have a faulty wire in your kit if Balsac's drum kit can turn on the system. Either way I don't see it as a "major" oversight. Get up, take 2 steps, and turn on your unit. If you are not willing to do that then you probably are not going to exert yourself by playing the drums anyway.
Any other drum kits have this issue?

It's not an issue, but it's an annoyance as my 360 is in my entertainment unit behind a smoked glass pane. Having to open the glass and power on the unit is an annoyance not being lazy...
besides if I can power it up with EVERY other xbox controller... why is this different?

You probably have a flaky hub like me. I have to plug an instrument directly into the console if I want to power it up.
In fact, I usually have to plug an instrument into the console just to get it connected. Once it is connected, I can plug it into the hub and play with it.

Like I said, Balsac says his button works for power up. Maybe you have a loose connection in there for power up.

Any controller plugged into the hub won't power up the 360 for me. I just removed the hub and only use it when I want to use two guitars, the drums and the mic all at once.

Lucky, the hub is the issue. For some reason, the PS3 controllers won't do it even when plugged directly into the unit.

I don't use the hub unless I have 3 friends over. That being said, my drum turns my 360 when plugged in directly.

It is because the hub does not get activated until the 360 turns on.
