Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm on here alot and haven't seen it come through...maybe cuz it's a stoopid question :p

When you conserve your Overdrive you get drum fills more often. Does this cause you to miss out on the points you would get for hitting the notes that the fill 'fills' in for? They don't seem to happen only when there is a break in drumming, but maybe I'm wrong.

Yes you miss any points for notes you can not play during a drum fill. You have to choose between saving overdrive and playing fewer notes, or using overdrive immediately and playing more notes.

I have a question regarding drum fills, do you get more points if you hit more beats during the fill? Also, how do you bypass overdrive without losing your streak?

You just don't hit the green note at the end to turn on Overdrive and then make sure you hit the next note after the drum fill ends. I almost never turn on Overdrive because I'm a "save it for a rainy day" kind of person, but I don't have to break my combo to leave it off.

You get 0 points for all free-form fills (except the Big Rock Endings).

Also, free-form fills do not affect your streak, unless you miss the first note afterward.

i havent seen any duels in action...but since youre not getting points for those missed notes when saving OD, is it better to use it immediately or wait till it fills up? because when youre in OD mode your multiplier goes up right? so since you have a full meter and assuming you dont miss a note, would the long period with a huge multiplier make up for short OD's with multiplier and getting in those extra notes?

Assuming you keep a 4x multiplier the whole time, use the OD right away, since you will play more notes at 4x and the same number at 8x.

If you have a low multiplier, it may be beneficial to wait until you have worked up to a 4x multiplier or know you will maintain a streak after you activate.

I always go into OD each time. Otherwise it drives me crazy how often the OD phrases start appearing.
I'd rather play the notes.

When playing solo, I almost always activate overdrive on the first fill that comes up, especially on songs with "long" fills. I'd rather go for 100% (or near-100%) and treat overdrive like a bonus than deal with endless fills covering up my notes.

Multiplayer is a different story. Guitar+bass make up more of the point total than drums, so if the guitar players have figured out an optimal overdrive path, it makes sense for the drum player to sacrifice some of their notes to give everyone 6x during the optimal path.

Is there somewhere I can read about how points work in RB? Like how many for single notes, doubles and so on for guitar/bass and the same for drums?

Each gem is worth 25 points. So two notes (chord or snare+hat, for example) is 50 points.

Base score * indiv. multiplier * band multiplier = points

Not sure how many points you get for sustained notes.

Thanks, that helps. So do the red pad(snare I believe) and bass only count extra for your "rock meter"? Points are the same?

Points are the same, but each counts as its own note. If you play snare and hi-hat at the same time, the combo meter adds 2. If you kick and play 2 pads at the same time (Sabotage!), you add 3.

Ok, so in theory if I want to skip an Overdrive and can just not play during the fill and I won't be penalized points or my multiplier?

You will only be "penalized" because you will not gain any points for the fills, whereas you may have gotten points for the notes the fill covers up. Your streak and multiplier will remain unchanged.

Hey does anyone know if, when playing a song on drums in band quickplay, do the other people in your band hear your drum fills? if no, then how can you change that? i've got some kick ass fills.

When playing online, the other people do not hear your drum fills. They'll hear the one on the master track of the song. They will see your lanes flashing though :)

And no, there's no way to change that.

Finally I see a post about that. I always suspected online players dont hear my fills but it's good to know once and for all.
