I finally recieved my replacement guitar today, but was a little concerned to find that I'm able to hear a loose screw rolling around under the strum bar. I played a few songs and it seems to work just fine, but now I'm worried it's gonna break at some point in the near future. Any thoughts? Anyone else's replacement making this loose screw sound too?

I believe that you are actually hearing the little ball bearings in the tilt sensor.

There are two small tubes that contain a small metal ball. These roll around in the tube and let the guitar know that it is tilted.

Mine that I got in the box was like that. No issues yet though.

I thought they did what the Les Paul did and used gyroscopes? Either way, it's definitely not that. Worked in electronics for a while, it's some type of spare piece (snapped plastic, screw, etc.) rolling around in there.

Sounds like you got the maraca option... That is a value added feature of the newer generation guitars.

The maraca feature??!!! LOL...thanks for lightening up my mood. I thought that it might be the overdrive mechanism, but it's near impossible to trigger the overdrive to even work!! I'm just pressing the D button instead. Still can't believe the shoddy quality of these instruments.

Yours has a D button?

I don't know if it's a D button...it's that one button you hit to put it into overdrive. Sorry for the confusion. Maybe I meant the start button or something? Oops.

Hey there again parasite, I have a weird question for you. I also received my replacement guitar today (haven't even tried it yet), but mine came with instructions on how to ship back my broken drums

Did your new guitar come with instructions on how to ship back the old one? Do we need to remove the headstock? If not, do we just place it in the bigger box and not use the smaller box since it won't fit with the head still on (seems like it will rattle around too much during shipping)?

Any help you can give would be appreciated. I can't believe that they can't even send out the correct shipping instructions (arrgh!)

Hey Cool,
Good to hear from you.....and, yeah, it did come with instructions. The neck thingy does NOT come off. I think I pulled some muscles trying to get it off before I read the instructions. Just put your old guitar in the box that your replacement came in. The neck will stick out, but that's fine. I did my best to package it up good, but I dunno....

I even called the EA tech guy to ask him about removing the top part(before I read the instructions) and he said if I couldn't pull it off, to just BREAK it off!!! I'm not kidding!!! He said since it's already broke, it didn't really matter. I'm sure glad I decided to read the instructions instead. Don't get me wrong...I felt like busting that piece of crap in a million pieces!!! :-)

I hope that answers your question. BTW....you should save the drum repacking instructions for when you have to send them back!! It's gonna happen...you know it's coming. :-(

Whoops....I didn't read that your drums had already broken!! Unbelievable, Well, not really, I guess.

Just FYI it is the ball bearing that you are hearing, like stated earlier. I thought the same exact thing as you (a screw, or piece of plastic), until I actually dove in to the guitar and figured out what it was. The PCB that holds the little ball bearing pieces comes off with just two screws. I would think they would have said something about it somewhere, that you will notice that sound so don’t freak out. But eh, its not that big of deal.

Thanks a million parasite, that's a huge help. Check your PM (excuse the spelling errors though, I hope Eric Carr will. I wonder if they let you go back and edit your PM's in the next life?). :o
