1. Dark Side of the Moon
2. Piper at the Gates of Dawn
3. Wish you Were here
4. The Wall
go in that order.
those are what i recomend for newcomers to Pink Floyd. After that get the good stuff; Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and Animals.

My personal favorite has always been Piper. But I listen to them often. Especially DSOTM on my stereo, sounds fantastic.

Well I can pretty much guarantee you've heard "Another Brick In The Wall (Part II)". Other songs to check out include "Comfortably Numb", "Money" "Wish You Were Here" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"

I like the songs Time and Money. Unless your high I don't suggest going for their live stuff. I heard a live version of this song called Echos(I think) it was 2 minutes of song, five minutes of screaming and random sounds, and then 3 minute reprise of the first 2 minutes of the song.

yeah, Echeos is 18 minutes long. It is a great song though
OP, you should prolly start out with DSOTM or WYWH

You've probably heard "Time", "Money", "Comfortably Numb", or "Another Brick in the Wall (part 2)". All of these songs were pretty big hits.

Animals never got the respect it deserved, in my opinion.

I'm never high and greatly enjoy them live.

I highly suggest you rethink looking into them. If you like Radiohead (which I assume you do...) then you should love Pink Floyd. Radiohead did a cover of Wish You Were Here (not very fond of the cover actually):

They may be the greatest lyricists to ever live, depending on your taste. I've always loved them, just don't misconstrue their lyrics (case and point: "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)"). After all, as Emerson once wrote: "To be great is to be misunderstood".
EDIT: P.S. I don't think that was the best YouTube video for the cover, but it is there in its entirety, so I guess that's not too bad. Unless I'm reading it wrong however the video poster (darkangel0894) seems to think the song was done by Status Quo, and I assure you it was not. I can't even find a cover by Status Quo...

They are an album band... you really need to hear the albums, not single songs.

is there anybody in there???? I love Pink Floyd for there different sound. They were on a bigger LSD trip then any of those other huge bands at the time thats for sure! 8D But honestly there stuff would be too easy to play.Cool guitar solos in a few songs but thats about it. im a drummer so....ZEPPLIN takes my vote over all of it! Can we please get "The Ocean" or "Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2

their stuff would only be easy to play because it wouldn't translate properly. There's no proper way to incorporate note bends and slides with the current plastic guitars. Believe me, Pink Floyd's songs aren't that easy to play, at least i didn't find them that easy.

I am and have been a Floyd fanatic for the past 18 years (I'm 25 but grew up with listening to British Classic Rock like the Floyd, Who, Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Cream, Queen since I was very young thanks to my Mom :) ). I personally suggest that you listen to Pink Floyd in this order:
Dark Side of the Moon
Wish You Were Here
The Wall
Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Meddle
The Division Bell
Animals
That is the order of what I think IMO beginners to Pink Floyd should listen to. If you have any questions PM me. I'll help you out.

To each his own I suppose. I think it's a masterpiece chronicling the life of Syd Barret. But I guess some people don't like the Wall as much as the others. Top 5 though definitely.

hmmmm.... it sounds nothing like Thom Yorke, either this was recorded pre-The Bends where his voice would be more youthful sounding, or i have no idea.....

They Re-Released that with a techno sound to it the original was way better

i don't like it as much because, for me, the cons outweigh the pros. I also don't like how a couple songs in the movie were left out of the album and vice versa.

Because it's not as good as Wish You Were Here, Animals, or Dark Side of the Moon. And it's an entirely different style than Piper at the Gates of Dawn, so it's hard to compare.
