Last night they said there was a patch up for PS3 guitar compatibility. Then they said it has been unexpectedly delayed. Then discussion was ended when the thread was locked. All I want to know is when is it coming? Like, is the unexpected delay really big or is it going to be up by Friday? Monday? January? 2009?

Don't panic. I doubt that if they thought it was going to be out last night that it'll be delayed more than a day. I'm as anxious as the next guy to get my 4-man-band on, but you just have to be patient. I'm sure they're trying to get it out as quickly as possible.

I'm pretty sure they are working on it.
If I had to take a stab, I'd say it's held up by Sony. I think all the testing and approvals are completed on Harmonix's side, but Sony tends to be a little slow in making things available.

A lot of things go into a patch... everything from QA'ing it to partnering with Sony for distribution. It all has to go through the proper processes to insure quality, stability, distribution, etc.
One would believe it to be pretty far along or they wouldn't have announced it. Nothing to be done but wait, and know it is in the works. The annoucement board will be updated with further official information when ready.

No, HMXJOhnlock said it isn't Sony.

Well, regardless, I'm pretty stoked for it. We can only hope (or assume) that HMX will include compatibility for the Les Paul.

I just wish they would announce if it's going to address the Les Paul or the pelican adapters of the GH1 and 2 guitars.

Seriously, I would be completely amazed if they were ever going to support the pelican adapters, let alone now. Compared to the LP which works 95% in Rock Band already, they'd have much further to go for those, and they don't even support hammer ons and power offs, nor do they support tilting for star power/overdrive.
So.... it's almost certainly going to be the LP.... though the announcement did say "a number of items"..... so who knows? Maybe they're adding the ability to use a sixaxis to play, too?

When I loaded my rockband disc a short while ago , a message popped about an update. I followed the instructions and re-started the game, hoping that I could now use my guitar from GH3, but the game still doesn't recognize my controller. Has anyone else had any luck?

This was most likely the v1.01 patch that released the same day as the game. Nobody is quite sure what it did. The patch we're waiting on will likely be v1.02.

Thanks for the info.
Really, I'm not sure if it's reliable, though.
Only one post, and it's this?
Let's see what others have to say.
Love Rock Band!

He said nothing of the kind. We haven't released any info on this as we don't yet have that info. When we know when the patch is coming we will let you know. Hold tight.
