Shot, a bullet will go in and you will either die quickly or feel some good pain in one spot.
A knife you would and sword you would have to feel slice into your body, very unpleasant.

I've never been shot, however, I have been cut pretty bad with knives. Therefore, I feel like I'd rather be stabbed. Just the whole fear of the unknown thing.

Edit: Another good reason - knife wounds are generally pretty clean. Bullets can contain lead, and lead poisoning isn't good. If shot with a shot gun and you don't die right away from being shot, you will most likely die from lead poisoning, not from the wounds themselves.

Been stabbed - lived to tell the tale. Upper back, pierced lung, and a second slash across the bicep.
Took a grazed bullet across the thigh when I was 17. The feel of that grazed bullet far outweighed the feeling of taking a knife in the back. I'll take a knife any day of the week. I can fight back after being stabbed. A full on shot? Anywhere? Hell, just curl up and let it end.

But yeah, it all depends. Am I just wounded, or do I die quickly? What kind of knife? What kind of gun? I'd rather take a shotgun to the face than a butcher knife to the face, personally. Well, a good slug that'll blow my head into bits, not this bull**** shot that just puts little holes everywhere, haha.
