Moving off of the idea that TheClashTheClashTheClash gave us.

Who do you think is the most underrated guitarist.

Personally I think its Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day, I know that you think all he does are endless chords, but he actually is very good, and my best friend is somehow related to Mike Dirnt (Bassist of GD) and met him at a wedding and went into this whole conversation about how underrated he is and how he occasionally covers Metallica songs.

Graham Coxon from Blur really doesn't get as much credit as he should.

I want to say Brian May, but then I'd feel like too much of a fanboy.

Saw this coming, but I can agree to Hide being underrated.

Neil Schon...who I think was always under-rated and has been forgotten by many, even though they know the songs well.

For those who don't recognize the name...he is from Journey.

I think it's impossible to be inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame twice and still be considered underrated.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopèz (At the Drive In, The Mars Volta) and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers. Yes, the latter is very well known as a band, but I think he deserves more credit as an individual and is slightly overshadowed by Flea and Anthony Kiedis.

Neal Schon of Journey, just because no one thinks of Journey as a band that relies on guitar.

I totally agree with Neal Schon.

Also Steve Morse of Deep Purple; John Squire of the Stone Roses; and DEFINITELY Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. Alvin's riffs on "I'm Goin' Home" at Woodstock are utterly amazing.

Because being ranked 18th greatest guitarist ever over Folks like David Gilmour, Thurston Moore, and Robbie Krieger is in no way overrated.

He's been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three different times now. I call that overrated, not saying he isn't good but definitely not underrated.

That being said I'd have to go with Omar Rodriguez from the Mars Volta and, yes, Matt Bellamy from Muse(probably just because the riff at the end of KoC kicks major arse).

Terrible Ted. People get too hung up on his OFF stage views to notice he can play the hell out of a guitar. Yes he seems to be an arrogant bastard....but on stage he has every right to be.

John Christ is sick as hell.
I always thought it was a shame that both he and Chuck Biscuits never got the credit they deserved. Danzig really hasn't been worth much after the original line-up fell apart.

Johnny B. Goode's riff, in my view, is considered one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. The man was a genius for coming up with that riff, it's just awesome.

Yeah, Nuno's actually a damn good shredder....too many people give him the lawlz because of "More Than Words," but they haven't heard his hard stuff.

I heard Nuno's started working with Steve Perry now....interesting pairing.

I know. Chuck is one of the few drummers to get me really into the drums. He just has "it".

I think a lot of times the rhythym guitarist is overshadowed a lot by the lead. Brad Whitford... have you heard of him? If you haven't, it's because he's overshadowed by Joe Perry (Brad Whitford is Aerosmith's rhythym guitarist). An exception would be James Hetfield (Metallica, if you somehow don't know), because he's definitely not overshadowed by Kirk Hammet.
