View Full Version : Anyone ever had any dream lineups or mixups for bands?

While at work last week I had a odd thought while listening to Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy album. I know of the fact Buckethead did quite a bit of work for the album during his time there and had his share of solos and whatnot, but I had a funny thought on what if another guitarist magically was hired by GnR instead of Buckethead and how it possibly would've sounded like (first guy that I thought of, despite me knowing how it would never happen, was Yngwie Malsteem). I know, silly mix-up, but I thought it was at least cool to imagine how Yngwie's sound would go with Axl Rose's vocals.
I just wanted to know if anyone here had their own dream lineups for certain bands (I do often think of how Metallica would have came out if Dave Mustaine was never fired way 'back in the day', resulting in Megadeth never being formed.) Anyone wanna humor the thought?

Bass: John Entwistle
Drums: Pete Parada
Keyboard: Danny Federici
Quite an odd lineup.

all of my dream line-ups are just Dream Theater with a different, deeper/more metal vocalist, such as All That Remains' vocalist or (flame shield up) avenged sevenfold's.
not saying Labrie is bad, but I'm kind of curious to see what they would sound like with someone more metal.

There was an interview with Steve Vai , oh around 10 years or so ago, where he had said he'd really like to write something with Prince. This was shortly after a Japenese Tour that Prince did where he covered Vai's instrumental Touching Tongues. I would have liked to have seen what those two would have cooked up.
