Doa-creator Itagaki found Innocent of Sexual Harassment

It's been a little over a year since sexual harassment charges were filed against Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki. The Tecmo developer allegedly forcibly kissed a woman after proclaiming his fondness of her and wrapped his arms around her on a number of occasions. When she complained to Tecmo management, the plaintiff said the company asked her to take care of the matter herself, prompting the lawsuit. Today, however, the suit has been settled in the Tokyo District Court and Itagaki found innocent.

"A verdict has been handed out in the sexual harassment case that was brought against me by a former female employee of Tecmo. I have held my head high and have fought the good fight for the past year in order to clear my name and to uphold the reputations of Team NINJA and of Tecmo," said Itagaki to 1UP. "The former employee's arguments were judged to have been false, and all claims that she has brought against me have been dismissed."

After the allegations became public, Tecmo revealed they had conducted a month-long investigation into the matter. At the time, Tecmo admitted that "others involved" in the situation had mixed "personal affairs with their corporate responsibilities." The company never issued a clarification for that statement.

"[I have put the] whole matter behind me and focus [want to] on doing what I do best, which is making great games," said Itagaki.

Eh, wouldn't be surpirsed if he actually did it----especially in regards to tecmo's statement-----people in Japan, in general, are ultra-committed to their jobs (they use less than half their paid time off, how well you do at your job is considered a social status way more so than a lot of countries--I mean goodness a guy at Toyota fell over dead from too much overtime in 2002) so there had to be some serious incentive for her to leave, and I doubt it was to screw tecmo over----plus Itagaki's games show an inappropriate view of women anyways--not proof but it does show a level of sexual deviancy was already there--which is a slippery slope.

It's only innappropriate on the surface (excluding the volleyball games). DOA's one of the few games where the girls kick just as much,if not even more ass than the guys do. Also Kasumi and Helena are the main focus for at least 2 of the games. In fact in DOA 4 8/11 males have revealing outfits compared to 6/9 females (depending on your definition of revealing but by mine it's 6/9) and it's a female that has the least revealing outfit in the game.
