maiden by a substantial amount. as ive mentioned before, i prefer dio sabbath to ozzy sabbath, but he was only there for a few albums. maiden have been more consistent i think, with pretty much every 80s release being awesome. so with all due respect to sabbath, im voting maiden here.

To be perfectly honest, there is a very, very small amount of artists that I outright dislike.

I'd say my most disliked groups are brokeNCYDE and Insane Clown Posse (my most hated group of all time), for mostly lyrical reasons. I personally hate Limp Bizkit, mostly for lyrics, but I know they are fairly well liked and wouldn't want to insult anyone by putting them up there.

Well, in my opinion.

Well, keep in mind this is a "best" band contest, not a personal preference. Influence has a huge part to play in that, so even if you don't like Black Sabbath, you can't deny the influence Sabbath have had on metal, and music as a whole.

I am by no means saying Maiden haven't had influence (I would be incredibly stupid to say they haven't), but lets put it this way; Maiden might not even exist without Sabbath.

While I think Bill Murray and Adrian Smith are technically better than Tony Iommi, I do think Iommi has a more iconic tone and a better riff writer (although Maiden are not exactly a band that centers their music around their riffs). I also prefer Bill Ward to Nicko Mcbrain, but I don't know who I would consider better technically.

I also have to stress that I listen to Maiden more frequently than Sabbath.
