This.

I've pretty much always hated Pontiacs (except the old muscle-era cars)

I'm sure someone will buy them.

New Pontiacs are kind of ugly. However in the older days they were badass. RIP Pontiac.

I drive a '96 Grand Am. Love it. RIP. This car is hanging on by a thread now. Your next clue is in the thread called "This game is getting rediculous.".

Saw it coming, GM has to streamline. I'd of thought some other brands would of been shutdown first. I wouldn't say I'm particularly attached to the brand (I'm not a car guy in general), but I do like my grand prix, so :(

Wow.

Seems like all the chatter from the new GM CEO about bankruptcy being an option holds some water.

First in a line of dominos?

Probably. Ford and GM have both been in the water sailing towards some sharp rocks for a long time. Heck, maybe they've hit the rocks and just refuse to believe it.

I don't have any problems with Ford or GM, they just simply aren't able to do well. It's not just the economy either. They've been struggling for quite a long time now. The crappy economy feels like it might be their final death sentence.

I saw a Fiero the other day. I had forgotten just how tiny those things were. Ugly too.

I'd be surprised if they didn't file for backruptcy. Doing some research, I guess the Hummer and Saturn lines were already decommissioned, I'd forgotten about that. They sucked, but I'll miss Pontiac. :(

My stepfather worked at a Pontiac assembly plant for 25 years. He's obviously got more attachment to the brand than I do, but it still carried appeal to me.

The retiring of Pontiac is a shame, largely because none of GM's other lines really replicated what Pontiac specialized in. Those customers now are likely to go elsewhere, probably to the likes of Mazda and Nissan. GM had this bright idea a decade ago when they killed off Oldsmobile, thinking their Olds customers would just buy a Buick or a Cadillac... turns out they largely went to Chrysler and Mercedes instead. And that was a brand that had major overlap; killing Pontiac is even worse.

In the end, it was death by neglect. GM says sales have been down, but sales were down largely because GM kinda pretended Pontiac didn't exist from the late 80s until about three or four years ago.

What about Buick? I haven't seen a Buick in forever.

My family had a succession of oldsmobiles growing up. Mom was disappointed after they were no more.

I thought Buick would be on the chopping block too, but GM plans to keep it. Funny, seems like I see a lot more Pontiacs than Buicks these days.
