Can anybody stomach doing this? I don't know if it's just me, but the only 2 people in the world I don't feel comfortable singing in front of my parents (alone or together), it's all embarrasing, and...blah! And also, I would feel the same way with my other relatives, but I havn't seen much of 'em lately...

Nah, no problem here. I sang in front of my parents when I brought it to their house to visit for Thanksgiving. I also ended up singing in front of a bunch of my girlfriend's family. There's no stoppin' the rock when Rock Band is whipped out. It doesn't matter who's watchin'

yeah Its really akward when your playing a song you don't know and they do. You don't know the lyrics and just look like an idiot. I suck at singing, but my dad 100%d a song on his 3rd time playing. I was like god damnit my dad is finally better than me at a video game.

Edit: I just dont like singing in front of anyone. failing a song on easy is embarssing. I can play the other instruments on expert and I dont mind playing those in front of anybody though.

Nah. I just picture I'm in the shower or something. Though I do tend to sing lyrics uncensored, so Welcome Home is kinda awkward seeing as I'm only 15.

I don't really have a big problem, but I do notice that by myself I can sing Expert, while with family I can usually only stomache hard or normal.

This was one of the reasons I didn't bring RB home last weekend when I went for a party. 50+ adults != fun singing time. And I wasn't about to just have a guitar and vocals. Damned if I was bringing the drum set home. I don't need my mom laughing at my singing and then yelling at me for making a frivolous purchase :(

I failed Say it ain't so on easy. I gave up singing forever at that moment. My mom sings, my sister sings, my dad sings (he's in a real band, too) so that's covered. I just play the guitar for them. :P

Haha actually, I've sung in front of my parents since I was a kid to whatever song I seemed to enjoy at the time, so it's not a big deal. But my extended family, ya, definitely. Only because my voice is awful, though. :)

I can and have done it, I'm not too bad of a singer though since I practiced alot since I used to write and sing songs (No I'm not bragging, I've never been in a band and likly never will be, I just like writing lol)

I get pretty nervous to start with when performing in front of anybody, but once I get into it all my inhibitions go away. I have pretty bad stage fright, though, and couldn't see myself fronting an actual band, or going on RB tours.

Yeah. Same here. Welcome Home and Creep are both quite awkward, but Creep's just a creepy song anyway.

I sang every once in a while when I was partying with my sister and my brother in law, but my sister usually handled the singing.

One of my neighbors walked in while I'm singing "Creep" and he said "Don't quit yer day job!"

Playing fake instruments in front of relatives while being "serious" about playing: Years of Humiliation from said relatives.

Voice cracking whilest singing(confound you creep): Even more years of humiliation.

Said relatives(after song is finished) saying "you stink at singing, haha!":Years of therapy.

Pointing to the screen(on hard) that says '100%'(vocals and guitar at same time) and saying "That's not what the game says.": Priceless.

Shoving The Guitar And Mic into their hands and watching said relatives fail MISERABLY ON EASY: Doubly Priceless.

I have sang not only in front of my parents, but also my wife's parents, uncles, aunts, and older family members. If you're 21, alcohol definately helps, but for some reason I didn't feel self-conscious at all. I guess I consider myself a decent singer, but nowhere near professional quality or anything. Another thing that helps tremendously, turn up your TV/Sound System volume, and turn the mic volume all the way down. That way only the game vocals come through the speakers and they should drown your vocals out.

Parents is the easy part. What is bad is the first song in a bar full of people that could yurn on you if you don't nail the first song. If you don't hook 'em on the first song, it makes for a long night.

I am pretty goofy around my family - they all know I have a wacky sense of humor. So I have no problems with doing things around my family. Singing is one of those things. Although it was something I initially thought I would be fearful about doing around anyone, considering most people suck at singing, I have no problems with it.

I have no problem with singing in front of relatives. They've seen me do this my entire life. But, then again, I was a music/drama major and have even fronted a band once.

The key to not getting nervous is to practice, practice, practice and when the time comes to actually perform in front of a crowd you may be nervous at first but then you'll start to get into it and play to the crowd. Then it becomes a blast.

I'll do it, but that's largely because I just don't give a damn as opposed to having any confidence. I was singing at the top of my lungs at a Best Buy demo and managed to draw a crowd and still keep my nerve, so doing it around family members would be easy.

I mean, until they start teasing me. But then I'll offer them the mic, and if they don't take it/do worse than me, then looks like they've got egg on their face.

When my mom started playing the drums in RH, she started losing it about midsong and let a couple of s-bombs fly which basically caused us to fail the song because the kids and grandkids were laughing too hard.

After that, the lyrics weren't much of a bother... :)

I think its a lot harder to play the drums solo while people watch than it is to sing while people watch. Its pretty safe to assume that everyone knows none of us are singers nor ever will be...so have fun.

Playing the drums while everyone watches can get intense on a hard song.
