Hey guys,
I was just doing some research on using the Ions as a real e-kit. I was just wondering if it would be possible to plug the Ions into a PC and use a sound program like Acid or Sonar. I would think if you could plug the Ions in via USB you can load it up in a sequencer and use VST instruments or Kontakt player to load up different sounds for it. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks!

There's at least an audio output for the realistic drum-brain, so that could be patched through an MBox.

True. But the Ion website mentions that the Ions can be used on the PC to play sounds. So I was wondering how that would work. Theoretically you should just be able to plug it in to the USB and the program should recognize that as a USB instrument. Or maybe there's a specific program.

You would have to purchase an e-drum brain.. the Alesis DM-5 seems to be the most popular. You could also purchase the ion pro upgrade kit for $199, which includes a basic e-drum brain about $150 cheaper than the Alesis. But I think it falls into the category of you get what you pay for.
