Anyone not going, or knows someone not going?

I thought it was only really spreading in Mexico? Here, in Jersey, nobody cares about it.

Last I heard, New York, Ohio, and Texas were having cases.
I am going to school in rural Illinois. I doubt we will get out of school.

My mom's overprotective since apparently it's increasing in strength or so she says. So yeah, not today or tomorrow most likely.

I didn't go to school today but that wasn't because of the Swine Flu, its just b/c I would only have one class today and I haven't missed it once this semester and have a 99 in there so I just decided not to go. And I don't think the Swine Flu is this far up in Texas yet (Dallas area) but I don't know

I don't go to school. I'm done with that.
Work isn't closing for it either. Which sucks. I'd love to be home doing other things. Sadly, they wouldn't be fun things. I somehow need to find time to clean the house before the inlaws visit this weekend.

I hope school does get canceled for Friday (they can't cancel tomorrow b/c of TAKS tests which are standardized tests) and we have a slight chance of that happening since there have been 16 cases in Texas already but I doubt we will have school canceled.

horray for media fear mongering.
Wash your damn hands and dont worry about it, infact, you should be more worried about influenza (regular flu) as it kills more than swine flu has.

This. Basically, anyone who is even a little bit worried about swine flu is a moron who has been brainwashed by the media. The regular flu kills 30,000 people a year in America, and nobody is afraid of it. You get it, you get treated, it goes away, no big deal. Not a single American has yet died of swine flu, and everyone is terrified? Dip****s. Go on with your lives. If you're the paranoid type, wash your hands more often. There is nothing to worry about.
You won't get swine flu. Nobody you know will get swine flu. If someone you know does get it, they will not die from it. Calm down.
Edit: Based on the grammar of the poll options, I'd say that the OP should probably be missing as little school as possible.

This is true, but the only real bad thing about this Swine flu is that when you get it there is likely no vaccine, you have to let it run it's course (Which in people who are not very young or the elderly, will just be a case of the flu, not deadly at all).
Don't worry about it and just keep your hands clean, and COVER YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU SNEEZE.

Nope, 1 child has died of this flu in Texas.

Re-read what I wrote, and research that death further. No AMERICANS have died. That child was Mexican, and he would have died in Mexico had he not come to America for treatment.

Good Point. Nevertheless, don't worry about it everyone, just do what you would normally do to avoid NORMAL flu.

That really is the best advice. If you're a clean person in general (washing your hands often, covering your mouth when you cough, avoiding people who are sick, common sense things like that) then you won't have much to worry about regardless of what fancy-pants flu strain the media is trying to scare you into avoiding this year.

Where do you live in Jersey? I live in Central Jersey as well in a town called Woodbridge.
Also yes, NJ doesn't care lol.

That still doesn't mean you aren't screwed if the flu is the reason your in the hospital in the first place, usually when you go to the hospital your on the verge of DYING. haha. :D

Supposedly, the WHO (World Health Organization, not the band ) has declared the swine flu as a level 5 pandemic (out of 6).
I'm going to school tomorrow. I'm doing CST's (California Standardized Testing). It's the last day of it, though, so I might not go to school on Friday, because I'm lazy.
Plus there's this girl I really like, so I need to spit my game with her tomorrow

Fort Worth ISD closed all schools till May 8th. That's the stupidest thing I've seen so far. I'm not worried in the slightest about this whole "breakout"

Really? Was the school closing really necessary? I've seen some bad school board decisions, but this may take the cake.

Its not just a single school. This is the whole Fort Worth ISD which encompasses quite a bit of people. Good thing my school board isn't stupid.

If I didn't get when someone left a threat to shoot up the school on the bathroom wall then I wouldn't get out for some stupid flu.
Not that I go to school anymore :p

There's absolutely no way my pharmacy school will close. If anything, we'd probably be drafted to distribute the Tamiflu if it actually does go into full-blown outbreak.
